Ten of the twelve teams in the Austrian Bundesliga already know how the rest of the season will go. Before the last two rounds of the basic round, only the question of the sixth participant in the upper play-off has to be answered. TSV Hartberg has the best prospects and a comfortable six-point lead over Vienna Austria.
The chances of the eleven from Vienna favorites are probably only theoretical. Both outstanding games must be won and the Styrians from Hartberg may not score any more points. This weekend the violets are visiting abroad. In Styria there is a duel between Sturm Graz and Austria Vienna. In addition to this preview, there are other Bundesliga games in the Austria betting category.
The Blackies are by no means playing an outstanding season, but secured a ticket for the top six last weekend with a 2-0 away win in the south town against Admira.
Wiener Austria drew in the second spring game and is a bit on the spot. On Sunday, the Ilzer team only counted a complete success. However, the betting base odds comparison shows that the guests are considered outsiders.
Sturm Graz:
After two competitive games in calendar year 2020, there was already unrest in the Styrian camp. After the end of the cup quarter-final against LASK and an inferior first half at the Bundesliga start against SV Mattersburg (1: 2 defeat), the Grazer were disappointed.
In the third competitive game of the year there was finally the first sense of achievement to be celebrated. For the relegation candidate from the Südstadt, a maximum average performance was enough to get the points with a 2-0 victory. Both hits fell into the “controversial” category. After the game, both head of sport Günther Kreissl and head coach Nestor el Maestro emphasized that the result was more important than the “how”.
Thanks to the three points against the Flyeralarm Admira, Sturm Graz now has 31 points on the credit side and thus only five points behind the table runners SK Rapid Wien. After the last two rounds in the basic round, the points are divided and the Europa League starting place is within reach for the Blackies.
Compared to the Bundesliga start against SV Mattersburg, the personnel situation in the duel against Admira was already relaxed. Some banned players returned to the squad, providing more opportunities.
Nevertheless, the situation in the defensive area is still tense. With the long-term injured Isaac Donkor and Anastasios Avlonitis, El Maestro is missing two supports in the triple chain. On the offensive, Cagliari on loan and top scorer Kiril Despodov (six goals, six assists) are still out.
Austria Vienna:
This season, the club leadership in Vienna’s favorites cannot be accused of actionism. The team has been feeling far behind expectations since the beginning of the season and one disappointment followed the next. Christian Ilzer, one of the most successful Austrian coaches in the past two years, should finally get better.
However, a look at the bare numbers shows that Wiener Austria could not be found on a single matchday on a game day that would entitle them to participate in the upper play-off. In fact, seventh place in the table so far has been the maximum feeling for the 24-time Austrian champion.
There are many positive aspects not to be mentioned in this season. However, the team did not lose qualification for the top six in the past few weeks, but at the beginning of the season. The latest results are quite presentable. The last defeat in the Austrian Bundesliga dates from November 3. At that time, the Ilzer-Elf had to give the LASK 0: 2.
Since this defeat, Wiener Austria have scored seven times in a row. However, the many draws ensure that the catch-up never really started. During these seven games, Wiener Austria only took two wins and had to settle for five points five times. The first two games in spring 2020 each ended with a 2: 2.
The Ilzer elf is by no means to be blamed for a lack of fighting spirit. Against the cash point SCR Altach, the team was 0: 2 behind and against the long-time dominator from Salzburg Palmer-Brown ensured the happy equalization in added time. It is only thanks to this hit that the principle of hope still rules on the distribution circle.
Above all abroad, the Ilzer-Elf is a welcome guest this season. Only one win away (on matchday three against Mattersburg) was successful, otherwise there were five draws and four defeats.
With these statistics, the prognosis for the guest victory seems very risky on the three-way market between Sturm Graz and Austria Vienna.
PREDICTION: Sturm Graz to win @ 2,05
