St. Mirren vs Dundee Utd PREVIEW & PREDICTION 26/05/2019

“Do or Die” is the title of the Scottish football season 2018/19 on Sunday afternoon. Last year’s second division champion St Mirren fights as the table penultimate of the Premiership to remain in the league. Contender Dundee United – Second in the Championship – wants to return to the top scotch class and end the three-year absence. For both clubs defeat would be equally dramatic. Dundee has always been regarded as the financially strongest club in the football club, not only since the entry of the new 56-year-old club owner Mark Ogren in December. St Mirren hoped after the sovereign championship title last year to participate in the championship rounds – the best six teams in the country. The reality, however, looked completely different.

For much of the season, the troupe could not deliver despite coach change and only caught in the last six games of the season. Therefore, between St Mirren and Dundee United our forecast recommends a tip on “X / X”. We think an extension is quite likely. The first leg in Tannadice Park last Thursday ended in front of 11,000 spectators 0: 0. Both teams presented themselves cramped in a game marked by numerous mistakes. It will be similarly nerve-wracking on Sunday, if St. Mirren against Dundee United, according to odds of bookmakers, will easily be favorites for a win. European Cup arithmetic is not used in the Premiership playoffs. Watching live is the match at BT Sport.

St. Mirren:

St. Mirren was able to extend the series of unbeaten games to seven thanks to the zero number last Thursday (3-4-0). In contrast to the FA Cup defeat at the beginning of February at home against Dundee United presented the “Buddies” in the first leg significantly better organized and resolute. In addition, only five players from that time were still on the court. For example, at St Mirren against Dundee United the odds of bookmakers speak for an easy favorite of the home team. With the series at the end of the season would be the “Buddies” almost the direct relegation succeeded. But despite a victory on the final day at Dundee FC it was not enough for the league, as Hamilton could win his game at the same time. Coach Oran Kearney’s team need one last win of the season. With the victory, however, St. Mirren did the entire season very difficult.

Up to and including matchday 27, St. Mirren won only three Premiership games (3-5-19). Of the last eleven league matches at least five could be won (5-3-3). Kearney took over the club at the beginning of September, when St Mirren knocked Alan Stubbs out after just four games. Ex-coach Stubbs now accused the two club bosses Gordon Scott and Tony Fitzpatrick in the run-up to the relegation games against Dundee. Both would have fictitious public with the heads in the clouds of a top six placement fabulated. A lunatic goal, especially as St. Mirren after the rise directly coach Jack Ross and the two key players Morgan and Reilly lost. In the second leg we expect another fight and recommend between St. Mirren and Dundee United a tip on “X / X”.

Dundee United:

Since the Premiership relegation in 2016, Dundee United has been trying to make it back for the third year in a row. What the predecessors Ray McKinnon and Csaba László could not do, is now the Hearts legend Robbie Neilson succeed, who is since October coach of the “Tangerines”. The 0-0 on Thursday reminds suspiciously of the lost Premiership Playoff final 2017. Even then, it was enough against the penultimate Premiership Hamilton only to a 0-0 at home, before the “Accies” the second leg in their living room with 1-0 could win. A year ago United failed as a favorite in the semifinals to Livingston. A certain nervous flutter can not be denied to the team in this all-important phase of the season. Especially since the support on Thursday was almost sold out house phenomenal. So the “Tangerines” only go into the return leg as outsiders, as all odds of the bookmakers prove between St. Mirren and Dundee United.

A new failure would mean a hard and long summer and a new run in the coming season – then with four Dundee derbies in front of the chest. But maybe United will manage against expectations and win in St Mirren on Sunday. We expect an extremely balanced game and can imagine a decision after extra time or penalties. Sun counsels at St. Mirren. Dundee United the forecast on our part for a tip on “X / X”. United have won five of their most recent seven matches (5-1-1). However, the away balance of recent weeks is mixed. In seven games, there were three wins (3-2-2) – twice against Inverness and once at the then descent threatened Dunfermline.

PREDICTION: Under 2,5 goals @ 1,58
