Seraing took the first matchday out with a tremendous strike: 3-5 against Lommel. The other teams are not used to such an entry into the Proximus League, and it will therefore be interesting to see how they will react to it. Deinze is an old acquaintance to Seraing and perhaps knows exactly what it takes to stop them.
RFC Seraing:
Seraing has just beaten Lommel 3-5 on the first day. Can you believe that? I’m still not that good actually. We immediately saw a lot of interesting things, but the most striking is the striker of Seraing, Georges Mikautadze, who managed to score four (!) Times. The 19-year-old talent is therefore immediately in the record books, because it is only the second player in the Proximus League to score four times in a match. The Lommel defense was clearly not ready for this man. The fifth goal came from substitute Amadou Dia Ndiaye. Will these two guys from Metz make a difference for Emilio Ferrera this season? It certainly looks like it.
The rest of the team certainly did not do badly either. Although … The defense left something to be desired. There were too many holes and Lommel played his way to the goal very easily. The defense was lucky with Mikautadze, because without him they would have lost absolutely. The way he single-handedly leads Seraing to victory is truly remarkable. The first goal was ‘only’ a penalty, the second was ‘only’ tapped in a rebound from the post, the third is ‘only’ a deviated shot and the fourth is ‘only’ from the edge of the box without pressure against the nets hunted. It all seems simple, but it certainly isn’t. Was it luck or will Mikautadze show in the coming games that we have an efficient top match?
Deinze:
Not everyone can knock on the door of the Proximus League with five goals as Seraing has done. However, Deinze and Seraing were in the same league last year and Deinze had absolute superiority. They were more than twenty points ahead of Seraing, who was joint second. However, that was hardly noticeable against Union Saint-Gilloise last weekend. The many (expensive) stars could not make the difference. They were virtually powerless against Union, even when the Wallonia team ended up with ten. David Gevaert will have to rethink how he makes a strong team of these individuals, because that is really necessary in this competition.
Deinze could not do much in attacking in particular. In the first half they got a few more chances, of which Lennart Mertens could certainly have scored one. However, he squandered the opportunity and moments later the 0-1 was scored through Mathias Fixelles’ head. The assistant, Anas Hamzaoui, took his second yellow card early in the second half, allowing Deinze to play a large part of the match against ten men. The Union defense was unfortunately too strong and Deinze had a hard time reaching the goal, let alone realizing dangerous chances. The death blow came from Casper Nielsen. He converted a free kick flawlessly and thus put the final score on the board.
PREDICTION: Both teams to score / YES @ 1,78
