PREVIEW & PREDICTION – Monaco vs Dijon 16/02/2018
On Friday, starting at 19:45, the Monaco – Dijon match will be played in the 26th round of Ligue 1. We anticipate a balanced match but should be clearly dominated by the hosts.
The hosts are no longer involved in any European competition and during the Friday game this should be an advantage. In the last 2 stages of Ligue 1, we could see a team from Monaco that compares with last season’s. After the extremely compelling performance of the Lyon match, in the second half in particular, the match with Angers followed. Although the opportunity report was fairly balanced, Angers had an extra goal (11-10), that’s what happened because the Monegasks provided a game of possession. Monaco defended so well in that game that only one opponent was well framed. Although they opened the score in the 10th minute, which is by their own goal, the Monegasque did not barricade in their own half but continued to attack calmly, positively, exactly as any team should do with the petitioners. For Monaco will not play Falcao scorer on Saturday, but neither Subasic goalkeeper. However, the absence of Falcao, injured in the first part of the match with Lyon was not felt until now. Jovetic is in very good shape, pointing twice in the last stage. We think that due to the situation in the Monaco championship, he can not underestimate anyone, so it does not seem possible to see them wrong at least until the program gets worse.
On the other side, Dijon kept well in the 12th place. After the rather humiliating defeat in front of the PSG, he failed with Strasbourg. However, since then, the guests on Friday have reputed two very important victories. The results of 2-1 with Rennes and 3-2 with Nice were at least unexpected, if we take both of them once. In the match with Balotelli & Co, Dijon led from the 61st minute but 6 minutes later they were left behind by a 2-1 on the scoreboard. However, they managed to come back and win the game due to Tavares’s goals in penalty (74 ‘) and Kwon Chang-Hoon (84’). Overall, Friday’s game was pretty good. After being humiliated with PSG, I saw that the players are somehow “assembled” to the game and do not give up so easily. Stade Louis II will miss, among the major players, only the Portuguese Xeka midfielder. In the last three straight games with Monaco, Dijon scored each time but the last two lost 2-1 and 4-1 respectively. Considering the form of Monegasque, it is clear that Dijon will have a very difficult mission Friday night.
PREDICTION: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.38
