The derby for the Moldavian supremacy in Liga 1 between Poli Iași and FC Botoșani, will see a new episode on Monday from 18:30 pm.
The party, which will take place in the epilogue of the 13th round, will bring a first in the history of confrontations of this duel of great pride. For the first time the Botosani people will be invited to their own field, considering that, due to the modernization works that take place in the arena in Copou, Poli Iași disputes a series of games considered on their own ground at the “Municipal” stadium in Botosani.
At the beginning of this duel the two teams are separated in the standings by only two points, Poli having 18 points and FC Botosani – 16 points. An eventual victory for Croitoru’s band would cause the two bands to make the comeback in the standings.
The Iesians warmed up for this match with the divisional C, Foresta Suceava, who managed in a friendly played on the secondary ground in Copou a 6-1 sec. On the other side, Marius Croitoru did not take a friendly match in the week leading up to the derby, choosing not to expose his students to any unwanted injuries, even managing to recover captain George Miron for the derby.
FC Botosani coach Marius Croitoru said he would not prepare the match with Poli Iași as a away one. Even if his students change into the guest locker room, he will have the same approach as at home matches.
For his part, Mihai Teja said that his students will only approach the game with the thought of victory.
The Botoşaneni have a moral ascendant considering that they have clearly won the last two straight duels, 3-0 and 2-0.
