Peru vs Brazil PREVIEW & PREDICTION 22/06/2019

On June 22, at 20:00, Peru receives the replica of Brazil at Sao Paulo in the third round of the Copa America group.

Without a number of major players, including the injured Neymar (who is missing from the final tournament), Brazil has unpleasantly surprised the second round of the group. Tite’s band failed to break the defense of Venezuela, who resisted heroically for a 0-0 value. Even so, Brazil looks good in the defensive, and Café Country defenders play exactly the heavy phases. It remains to be seen if the opponents’ favorites will overcome the arguing defensive of the Peruvians.

Like Brazil, Peru has 4 points after the first two matches so the two nationals can qualify for the next stage in the event of a draw. The condition would be for Venezuela not to defeat Bolivia, for the Peruvians not to lose “tickets” to the elimination phase. Venezuela has two points in Group A, while Bolivia has not scored yet. Peru will play cautiously and the game may only open if Brazil will open the score in the first half.

So Brazil boasts a series of four consecutive no-goal matches, but the white draw with Venezuela certainly frustrated Selecao fans. Peru defeated Bolivia 3-1 after draws with Venezuela in the first round, and white-red are on big horses after the last result. Farfan and Guerrero strikers are still working at full capacity and could pose problems to the Brazilian defensive, even if the gold-green band will benefit most of the possession.

Brazil won 2-0 the last direct duel in World Cup qualifiers in 2016, but the Peruvians forced 1-0 in a match played at Copa America in the same year. It was also the only success of white-red in the previous 18 direct meetings with the Brazilians.
