PSG VS MARSEILLE PREVIEW & PREDICTION

IThe third quarter final of the Coupe de France is the most attractive on paper: PSG against Olympique Marseille, better known as the French Classic. Does PSG know how to win or win the Marseillaids from Olympique Marseille last Sunday?

Paris SG :

With still eleven matches to go in the Ligue 1 PSG comfortably leads the dance with fourteen points ahead of the number two, AS Monaco, and the preparations for the champion party may also be struck. Last weekend, another big step towards winning the title was taken by winning Le Classique from Olympique Marseille and running out of chasing chasers AS Monaco, Olympique Marseille and Olympique Lyon. With matches against Troyes, Metz and Angers, all of them plowing in the danger zone, it does not seem possible to go wrong in the competition for the Parisians in the coming weeks. Before that, the Coupe de France still has to deal with arch-rival Olympique Marseille and, even more importantly, considering the investments of past (and upcoming) summer, the owners of PSG also expect Real Madrid to be put aside in the Champions League.

The chance that that happens is a bit smaller due to an injury from Neymar. In the game against Olympique Marseille, Neymar played, as usually again, a decisive role, but the game ended in tears for the Brazilian star player. In an attempt to recapture the ball on Bouna Sarr, Neymar was injured in the final stages, after which he had to be carried off the field with a stretcher. According to Unai Emery, the Brazilian will not be able to participate on Wednesday, but he will be fit in time for the match against Real Madrid.

Marseille :

The 3-0 defeat in Le Classique last Sunday will undoubtedly have arrived hard at the team of Rudi García and especially the fact that Marseille had to bring in little for ninety minutes. The only chances that L’OM managed to create all stemmed from standard situations, but despite some good passes from Dimitri Payet, his teammates did not manage to make the victory over the arch rival. And so for the team of García this week ended a series of twelve games where in L’OM always managed to find the net and at least equaled with defeats against Braga (1-0) and PSG. Due to the fact that there was no win for the third time in five league matches, AS Monaco now overtook the Marseilles riders on the rankings, putting the second place in danger for L’OM.

In the earlier meeting between both teams this season (2-2), Florian Thauvin seemed to make the winning goal in the final phase for his team, but then Edinson Cavani finally had the last word. This match also had Thauvin a good chance to bring his team back into the game, but the man who has been so in shape at Olympique Marseille in the past few weeks and scored six times in the last six games, is already two games in a row dry. And to make it even more painful for Thauvin and his teammates it was again Cavani who had the last word in this game.

PREDICTION: Both teams to score / YES @ 1.58
