On Saturday, at 17:30, the Carrow Road arena hosts a very interesting duel in England Cup 3, between Norwich City (second place in second league) and Portsmouth (third league leader). We were expecting a game with goals on both sides, although the hosts started their favorites.
Both bands have been remarkable this season with positive football in their divisions, with the presence of some very inspired players. Norwich came in a less fast time and did not win 3 consecutive rounds, receiving 8 goals per game in the matches with Nottingham (3-3), Derby (3-4) and Brentford (1-1) . Even so, the band trained by Daniel Farke remains in second place in the second league (goal 48-34), having a feared scorer in the person of Pukki and the second attack in the league as efficacy.
Portsmouth is the favorite in Championship promotion.
Portsmouth has three wins and a failure in the last 4 stages, being victorious in the games with Sunderland (3-1), Fleetwood (5-2) and AFC Wimbledon (2-1). As we have seen, neither the white-blue band excels on the defensive, which should ease the canaries’ mission. Portsmouth has 57 points (League 46-24) in League One and has lost only three matches this season, coming with a moral solid in the move from Norwich. It has been 8 years since the last direct duel of the two bands, so the past results are less relevant. We report, however, to the style of play practiced by the two rivals.
The fact is that we should witness a match at a good pace, where guests will not confine themselves to an overcrowded defensive, as it is expected (usually) from teams coming from lower levels. Of the 19 matches played this season, Pompey finished without a goal scored in a single game (0-2 at Gillingham) and comes with qualifications to qualify.
