Newcastle vs Tottenham PREVIEW & PREDICTION 15/07/2020

On Wednesday, at 18:00, Newcastle and Tottenham meet in the 36th round of the Premier League, in a match in which the Londoners play their last chances to qualify in Europe. From 8th place, Spurs goes on St. James Park, for a traditional English football match. We expect Tottenham to dominate the match from the north.

Tottenham are in 8th place (54-45 goal difference) and have 52 points, two less than Sheffield United, the last “European” team in this Premier League season. Newcastle is in 13th place and has long secured its rescue, so the last two stages were played relaxed, hence less happy results. The “Cotofenele” come after a 1-2 with Watford (match in which they opened the score) and a 0-5 at Manchester City, on a field almost impossible to conquer.

Tottenham have three straight wins at home, but remain vulnerable when they play away, where they recently lost to Sheffield United (1-3) and drew with Bournemouth (0-0). However, the victory this weekend, in the derby with Arsenal (2-1), should bring a solid morale for Jose Mourinho’s students, who will attack through Son, Alli and Kane. In the match on St. James Park, Newcastle has a lot of important absentees.

The injured Carroll, Clark, Hayden, Longstaff, Krafth, Lascelles, Lejeune and Saint-Maximin cannot play, the latter being declared uncertain. If the players listed above will not be able to play for Steve Bruce’s team, then the guests’ mission will be significantly simplified. From Spurs will not be able to play Dier (suspended) and the injured Foyth and Tanganga. Because only Londoners have a concrete stake, it’s normal to bet on them, especially since Tottenham’s team is quite solid. Moreover, the performance in the derby with Arsenal offers hopes for a good new game.

Newcastle: Dubravka; Dummett, Manquillo, Fernandez, Yedlin; Ritchie, Shelvey, Bentaleb, Joelinton; Almiron; Gayle
Coach: Steve Bruce
Tottenham: Lloris; Tanganga, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Davies; Sissoko, Winks, Lo Celso; Lamela, Kane, Son

Newcastle won 1-0 away from the tour, after the goal scored in the first half by Joelinton;
Less than three goals have been scored in 4 of the last 5 direct duels;
Before the failure of the tour, Tottenham had four consecutive victories with Newcastle;
Newcastle have 6 wins and 8 draws in 17 home games this season;
Tottenham has the 13th record in the championship, in away matches: only 3 victories;

PREDICTION: Tottenham to win @ 1,82
