On Monday evening at 19:45, Montenegro receives the visit of the national team of England in the second round of the European Championship preliminaries in 2020. Podgorica is not an easy one for Gareth Southgate’s students, even if they come after an impressive series.
The two bands are part of group A of the EC preliminaries, and England won 5-0 the first match, the one on its own field with the Czech Republic. Sterling noted a “triple” sensation in front of an opponent who could not claim Wembley. England has 5 wins in the previous 6 games, the only “syncopa” coming in draw against Croatia (0-0), the UEFA League. Gareth Southgate has a batch that combines exceptionally the youth, speed, experience and technique of the Premier League celebrities, and the clubs in Albion have had a very good season in the European Cups this season.
Montenegro is deprived of the services of Savic and Jovetic, two of the most important players for the Balkan gears, and the host representative is remarkable in organizing the game, rather than by special technical valences. England should easily dominate the Podgorica match, as Montenegro has only two wins in its previous 13 games (both against the Lithuanian representative). I kept a close eye on the Montenegrin national, because it was Romania’s opponent in the UEFA League, so we noticed the offensive problems of this team.
However, Montenegro played very well in the Bulgaria move from the first stage of the preliminaries, where the white-reds drew 1-1, after opening the score. The Bulgarians needed a penalty to equalize in the last minute, and the morale of the Montenegrins is very good.
In addition, statistics show us that England has had problems with the Balkans in the past. Three of the four direct matches so far ended in draw (1-1, 2-2 and 0-0), the only success being achieved by “lei” on the field, with 4-1, in the World Cup preliminaries from 2014. The guests are favorites, having 16 goals scored in the last 4 games, and Gareth Southgate’s team has not received a goal in 3 of them. It will be hard for the Montenegrins to break the defensive bar in front of Pickford, so we will bet accordingly, taking advantage of the more advantageous odds we find at online agencies.
