On Tuesday, from 20pm, Liverpool and KRC Genk meet in the fourth stage of the UEFA Champions League groups.
Group E’s calculations are fairly straightforward for Liverpool, who have two wins and one failure after the first three duels: 6 points (8-6 goalscoring). Leader is Napoli, with 7 points, and Genk is in the last position, with only one point at the active. Salzburg is 3rd, with 3 points. Therefore, a success of the “cormorants” would definitely bring Genk out of the calculations.
Liverpool are in good shape from an offensive point of view and come after a dramatic victory in the match with Aston Villa, score 2-1, with a decisive goal scored in the overtime. The “Cormorants” returned from 0-1 and have had many positive results at the limit lately. Among others, the red and white eliminated Arsenal in the English League Cup (5-5 during the regular season) and beat Tottenham 2-1, also after a 0-1 comeback.
Instead, Genk is on a downhill slope and the defensive game of the white-blue does not inspire confidence. In the last five official matches, Genk has lost three times: 0-1 with Standard Liege, 1-4 with Liverpool (on home soil, in UCL) and 0-2 at Eupen, in the last stage of the championship. Only one victory they have achieved the Belgians in the last three weeks, a difficult 1-0 with Brugge Circle. The 4-3-3 system practiced by Ianis Hagi’s team should be simple to “disassemble” by the favorites.
