On Wednesday, at 20:00, Lille receives a visit to Chelsea, in the second stage of the UEFA Champions League groups. The hosts have little chance to surprise, but Frank Lampard’s team is decimated by the injuries of Emerson, Loftus-Cheek, Rudiger, Giroud, Kante and Zouma.
After the first match of the group, Chelsea and Lille are in 3rd and 4th place, after failures at the start. Chelsea lost 0-1 at home, with Valencia, after an authoritarian dominated match, but in which the Londoners were not incisive in front of the gate. Ultimately, the “bats” have imposed themselves thanks to an excellent organization, and Chelsea will have to work hard to qualify.
Lille is the “Cinderella” of the group that Ajax and Valencia still belong to, but in the first stage she gave up 0-3 in front of Razvan Marin’s “pitchers”. With a star-studded lot, Lille hopes the defense will be strong enough to stop Willian, Pedro and Abraham Wednesday. From a value point of view, Chelsea’s lot is clearly superior, and this should be decisive.
In the last stages of the championship, Lille drew with Rennes (1-1) and Nice (1-1), but won with Strasbourg, on their own ground (2-0). Chelsea comes after a victory with Brighton (2-0) and a 7-1 success in the League Cup, with modest Grimsby. There have been no direct duels between the two bands so far. We bet on a victory of the guests, but not on an offensive festival!
