The Sunday lunch in La Liga is this weekend for Leganes and Villarreal. Both teams had a bad start in the league and craved a victory.
Leganes:
Leganes managed surprisingly easy to maintain in the past few seasons, despite a limited budget, but this year does not want it to be so. After three rounds of play, the Madrilenians only accumulated a point, leaving them in the relegation zone for the first time in four years.
Of course there is no man overboard yet. Leganes already had some very tough matches with Sevilla-out (2-1) and Real Madrid-out (4-1) and the season is still long. Yet it does not hurt to critically examine the team. In previous seasons, under successful coach Asier Garitano, the solid rear-line was literally and figuratively the foundation of the team. Under Mauricio Pellegrino’s successor, however, the final line with seven goals in three matches is the weak spot. With Gabriel and Diego Rico, the team lost two key players this summer, but that should not be an excuse. Los Pepineros also did not leave their mark on the transfer market, and this year they spent almost 53 million euros on player salaries. With such a salary post, they are actually obliged to go to the top of the right-hand row.
Villarreal:
Villarreal also has not got the right shape yet. In terms of budget and player material, the yellow shirts belong in the Spanish subtop of course. There is only one point out of three matches, an equalization of the worst league start ever, so far nothing of right. El Submarino Amarillo needs a quick victory to nip a crisis in the bud.
In that respect, there is now a crucial period for the team of coach Javi Calleja, which will have no less than seven official matches in the next three weeks. The coach therefore has no other choice to rotate something in the coming period. It is also not easy, because due to injuries for both Santiago Caseres, Bruno Soriano and Javi Fuego, he no longer has an acceptable defensive midfielder at his disposal. This week, the transfer-free Manuel Iturra was quickly recorded. The Chilean, however, relegated last season with Malaga and frankly can not do very much of it.
PREDICTION: Under 2.5 goals @ 1.58
