In its fierce fight against relegation, Celta Vigo will visit Leganes on Saturday evening. The home club is already safe and therefore only plays for the sporting honor, but is usually very strong in its own Butarque.
Leganes:
After last Wednesday’s 0-1 home defeat, Leganes is finally playing for bacon and beans in the final phase of the season. The small club from Madrid had a very small chance of European football, but that is now definitely over.
Nevertheless, Leganes can look back on a great football year. The fact that Los Pepineros did not have to fear for a moment for relegation six years before the end of the game were permanently assured of body preservation is an excellent achievement in view of the player material and the budget. However, we cannot deny that the team of coach Mauricio Pellegrino is in its worst phase of the season with only two points from the last four games. In their own Butarque, the blues and whites generally do well, but last Wednesday they did not do anything at all and had to quite rightly take their third home defeat of the season. So it looks a bit like Leganes is struggling to recharge, now that the pressure to perform is no longer there. The problem, however, is that the Madrilenians need to have their fighting spirit and team spirit right – as soon as those aspects disappear, they run into problems against every opponent.
Celta de Vigo:
Celta de Vigo left nine points in her last six matches and seems to be picking up just in time. Thanks to the 1-1 draw of last Wednesday’s visit to Espanyol, the Galicians are on 36 points after 34 games, which is just enough to stay outside the relegation zone. The differences in the tail of La Liga, however, remain extremely small, so the team of coach Fran Escriba is still facing four finals.
In the Balaidos people have every confidence in a happy ending and it is expected that the local pride can also be admired in La Liga next season. This is largely due to the excellent shape of Iago Aspas, which is called The Messi of Celta for good reason. The attacker did not score against Espanyol (although he did hit the woodwork), but in his last four duels he was good for no less than six goals. The fate of Celta de Vigo is therefore largely in his hands.
PREDICTION: Both teams to score / NO @ 1,74
