On Monday, starting with 14:00, the Inter Miami – New York City match will be played, within the group stage of the “MLS is back” tournament. Premiere meeting between two “newly” formed bands, Inter Miami in 2018, and New York City in 2013. The dispute will take place in Bay Lake (Florida), as well as the rest of the matches scheduled in the “MLS is back” competition, without spectators in the stands.
The “MLS is back” tournament begins with the group stage and ends with an eliminatory play-off. The winner will qualify for the 2021 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League, and the 2020 MLS season will resume after this competition.
Inter Miami is a group sponsored by the former great English player David Beckham and founded in 2018. The team’s coach is the Uruguayan Diego Alonso, and the most important player in the group is the Mexican Rodolfo Pizarro. Inter Miami has lost all 4 official matches since its inception, 1-2 with Philadelphia Union and Orlando City in the “MLS is back” group stage, respectively 1-2 with DC United and 0-1 with Los Angeles in the regular MLS season.
New York City also lost both group stage matches of this competition, 0-1 to Philadelphia Union and 1-3 to Orlando City. After missing the debut match due to an injury, Alexandru Mitrita was quickly recovered and entered from the reserve position in the previous dispute. New York City could take advantage of the superior experience gained to obtain a positive result with Inter Miami.
