Ingolstadt vs Grossaspach PREVIEW & PREDICTION 07/06/2020

What is the most obvious sequence of ghost games? Of course, the home advantage in particular is lost. The previous games in German professional football have shown that this is really the case. In League 3 in particular, the statistics speak a clear language. There have been a total of eleven away wins over the past two match days and the home team has only won three in five.

Between Ingolstadt and Großaspach, a tip on the odds of the guests is actually the right choice – one would think. Precisely because both teams have been able to win their game abroad, but have lost their home game.

However, after the important away win in the Upper Bavarian derby against Unterhaching, the Schanzer are full of self-confidence and in the promotion race desperately dependent on points, while the guests in the table cellar are almost relegated.

It is therefore only logical that the best bookmakers clearly assigned the favorites role in this pairing on Sunday in favor of the hosts. This game, which is important for both clubs, will kick off at 16:00 p.m. in the Audi Sportpark.

Ingolstadt:

In retrospect, FC Ingolstadt could be one of the big beneficiaries of the Corona compulsory break. The Upper Bavarians had a really bad phase in March and only got one point from five games. The Schanzer slipped far from a direct promotion place in the table and were in the role of the pursuer.

The change of coach from Jeff Saibene to Thomas Oral also initially seemed to fizzle out, as a 1: 2 loss against the second team of FC Bayern Munich followed last weekend. However, the FCI came back impressively during the week in the next derby against Unterhaching.

Despite an early deficit, an ultimately important 2-1 away win was finally achieved and the relegated team is back in the middle of the fight for a return to league 2. Whether the knot has finally broken will be shown in Sunday’s home game against the penultimate team. A threesome is absolutely necessary if the swing should not flatten out immediately.

The starting position is actually optimal for the home side. Marcel Gauß, who saw a late yellow-red card against Bayern, returns to the squad after suspension and thus all players are ready for action. The team is led by the strong storm duo Stefan Kutschke and Dennis Eckert Ayensa. With the exception of the recurring Gauss, hardly any changes can be expected beyond.

The performance against Unterhaching was very convincing and in the style of a top team. If Thomas Oral’s team ties in with this performance, then between Ingolstadt and Großaspach a forecast in the direction of home win odds (here for betting base odds comparison) is mandatory and on Sunday evening it is really only about the amount of success.

Großaspach:

How is the surprising 1-0 away win during the week at Chemnitz FC? Was this a coincidence or was another serious uplifting of the penultimate table that practically seems to have already descended. How bad this season is for the self-proclaimed village club is shown by the fact that Hans-Jürgen Boysen is the fifth coach on the sidelines.

Most fans have already come to terms with having to go into the regional league. After the 0-2 against Unterhaching last weekend, no progress seemed to be apparent either. But now, after the success with the sky blue in the English week, a little hope flickers again.

The gap to the saving bank is still a whopping nine points and the team should actually have to add more on Sunday. However, to do this, she must finally get to grips with the big, offensive problems. The SG only scored three goals in calendar year 2020. With a total of 24 goals, the team made the weakest offensive in League 3.

In their defense, however, it must also be said that a major bad luck for injuries has always weakened the squad throughout the season. Also for the duel in Upper Bavaria on Sunday, numerous important players are missing due to different injuries. Marin Sverko, Michael Vitzthum, Jamie Dem, Charmaine Häusl, Eric Rottmann, and Timo Röttger are all injured.

Add to that the yellow card of Dennis Slamar, who received his fifth warning in Chemnitz. With this, the team of coach Boysen virtually stands up on its own and there is little room for maneuver in terms of personnel and tactics.

With a “Now more than ever” attitude, however, the guests want to surprise again on Sunday and although the odds for a tip on the SG were rightly chosen between Ingolstadt and Großaspach, the underdog should not be underestimated. The team has worked well defensively lately and the outsider in the Audi Sportpark has nothing to lose.
