Heidenheim vs Werder Bremen PREVIEW & PREDICTION 06/07/2020

On Monday, starting with 19:30, the Heidenheim – Bremen match will be played, within the relegation / promotion play-off in the Bundesliga, the return leg. In the first game, the two teams drew in Bremen, score 0-0, a duel with only 2 sutures on the goal, both on the side of the “white-greens”. The other direct disputes took place in the German Cup. In the last 16 of October 2019, Bremen won 4-1 at home. Earlier, Heidenheim won 2-1 in the 32nd round of the final in July 2011, a duel played “at home”.

Heidenheim took the place of the dam to the detriment of the Hamburg team, which lost on its own field with Sandhausen, score 1-5. For Hamburg, the draw was enough. Under these circumstances, Heidenheim lost 3-0 to Bielefeld, which had won the Zweite Bundesliga trophy. The team coached by Frank Schmidt since 2007, has never played in the Bundesliga. The “red-blues” were close to a major surprise last season in the German Cup, losing in the final 5-4 in Munich to Bayern, after leading 2-1 and drawing 4-4. In the tour with Bremen, Heidenheim had 11 goal situations, 33% possession, but failed to score a shot on the opponent’s goal area.

Instead, Bremen dramatically ticked off the play-off place to stay in the Bundesliga, after Dusseldorf were destroyed by Union Berlin, score 0-3. Florian Kohfeldt’s students were unstoppable with Cologne, winning 6-1, a match in which Rashica and Osako were the performers of the “white-greens”. Bremen could get the 16th place earlier, but inexplicably lost the trip with Mainz, from the 33rd stage, against a team without any special motivation in this end of the season. The dispute with Cologne was the first of this season in which the “triplet” Rashica – Osako – Fullkrug was available. In Thursday’s duel with Heidenheim, Bremen received 4 yellow cards, one red (Moisander), but the accuracy in front of the goal left much to be desired.

If in the first match, Bremen was considered a big favorite, it disappointed its fans somewhat. In return, we expect Kohfeldt’s team to perform in the note of the season, when it achieved important successes away.

-Heidenheim has never played in the Bundesliga;
-Frank Schmidt (2007) is the oldest coach in the first two German leagues;
-After scoring 9 times in the first 16 “home” stages, Bremen scored 6 times in the 34th round;
-Rashica and Osako each scored 8 goals for “white-green”;
