In the first hand of the Europa League play-off, on Thursday, August 23, starting at 19:30, the Genk-Brondby game will be played. The confrontation will take place on “Luminus Arena”. The host team starts with the first chance, coming after a series of four consecutive wins.

Continuing the series of good evolutions lately, the hosts were forced on the weekend that passed, 3-1 with Charleroi. Although they have been on the table since the first half they managed to come back thanks to the success of Uronen and Samara (double). At the age of 25, Mbwana Samara scored four times in the last three games he played in. With this victory, Genk climbed second in the rankings to only two points behind Anderlecht.

In the four games played this season on his own ground, Genk won three wins and a draw. In three of these defensive games he left the empty field

On the other side, more with the thought of Thursday’s confrontation, the guests gave themselves on their own train, 0-1 with Esbjerg. In spite of a 70% possession and not less than 22 goals, they have not managed to find the way to the opponent’s goal. For Esbjerg, Adrian Petre, the former striker of the UTA, evolved to the break when he was changed. With this defeat, Brondby dropped fourth in the championship, losing contact with Copenhagen and Aalborg. In the four moves made so far this season, the course is an excellent one with three wins and one defeat. The only failure came to Copenhagen, 1-3.

This will be the first direct confrontation between the two bands.
