Thursday at 19:45 pm on the “Tórsvøllur Stadium”, the Faroe Islands will receive a visit from the representative of Sweden in a match counting for Group F in the EURO 2020 preliminaries.
The Torshavn duel will be played simultaneously with the other match scheduled in the fifth stage in Group F, respectively Romania-Spain, which will be hosted by “National Arena”.
The Faroe Islands is the last in the group, with no points, with defeats on the line with Malta (2-1), Romania (4-1), Spain (4-1) and Norway (2-0).
On the other side Sweden is on the 2nd place in the group with 7 points, on a par with Romania which, although it has a better goal, has the handicap of losing the first match directly with the score of 2-1. In addition to the success of the home field with the “tricolors”, Sweden drew, score 3-3 away with Norway, won 3-0 “at home” with Malta and gave in to the non-presentation score in Spain.
The two representatives will be face to face again after six years. The two teams were part of the same group in the 2014 World Cup preliminaries, with Sweden prevailing 2-1 in the Faroe Islands and 2-0 on their own ground.
Except for the duel with Spain, Sweden looked good in the other group duels showing offensive force both with Norway, scoring 3 goals away and with Romania, who scored 2 goals on their own. This is in addition to the 3 goals scored in the Maltese gate. Instead, Feroe seems doomed to last place in the group, having a disastrous average of three goals per game.
PREDICTION: Over 2,5 goals @ 1,73
