On Sunday evening the Denmark play in Aarhus against Wales. After the debacle this week about the portrait rights, there appears to be an agreement. Are the Danish players, after this hoopla, ready for their first game in the Nations League?
Denmark:
Danish football was turned upside down last week. The entire Danish selection refused to finish the friendly match against Slovakia because there was no agreement on portrait rights. As a result, the team had to move to Trnava with a mix of amateur and indoor football players. ‘The emergency team’ did not make it that bad, it lost by 3-0.
On Thursday, an agreement was finally reached whereby Denmark would normally take its place against Wales. In order not to miss their start, best points are taken. Wales is currently in the lead because of their victory against Ireland. The spearhead of the team is Cristian Eriksen, playmaker at Tottenham. At the start of the season he could not be too often there too often, hopefully I’ll be able to do that on Sunday evening. In defense there is a strong central duo with Christensen (Chelsea) and Kjaer (Sevilla). At the front there is a Yousuf Poulsen (RB Leipzig), who proved at the World Championships in Russia that he really knows the goal.
Wales:
Under the leadership of national coach Ryan Giggs, Wales started the campaign in the Uefa Nations League. It defeated Ireland with a dry 4-1. At certain times Ireland was outclassed by the energetic and vertical football of the Welshmen. After Lawrence’s early opening goal, Gareth Bale took care of doubling the gap with a pearl. Ramsey and Roberts scored the remaining goals.
Against Denmark it will not be as easy as it seems to me against Ireland. The Danes played a very decent European Championship and were eliminated by the later finalist, Croatia, in the second round after penalties. It is a fact that big star Gareth Bale is in blood form. That other star of the team, Aaron Ramsey, also played a good match. Not losing in Denmark would already be a good thing in view of the required group profit.
PREDICTION: Denmark to win @ 2.00
