Bristol City vs Leeds PREVIEW & PREDICTION 04/08/2019

On Sunday, title candidate Leeds will play his first game of the season at Ashton Gate. Opponent is Bristol City, which competed for a place in the playoffs last season. A preview!

Bristol City:

Bristol City was short of four points at the end of the stage for sixth place in the Championship last season. The Lee Johnson team made a big impression, especially with the undefeated series of games from round 19 to round 31. The Robins again hope to be able to compete again for a place in the top six of the Championship this year. That will have to be done without Lloyd Kelly. The very talented left back has been taken over by Bournemouth for almost fifteen million euros. However, Bristol did not sit still after his departure, as Tomas Kalas (€ 9 million) and Jay Dasilva (€ 2.5 million) were both taken over from Chelsea to accommodate Kelly’s departure.

In the front, the danger will still have to come from Andreas Weimann and Famara Diédhiou. Weimann was elusive at times, but too often the Austrian disappeared at the important moments. He scored ten goals in 44 league matches last season. With thirteen goals, Diédhiou did not do much better than his partner. Callum O’Dowda, good for four goals last season, also seems to be entitled to a base place at The Robins. The Irishman can act as both left midfielder and left winger.

Leeds:

For a long time, Leeds seemed to force direct promotion to the Premier League last season. Until just before the end of last year, Marcelo Bielsa’s team always had a place in the top two of the rankings. However, a big form dip ensured that both Sheffield United and Norwich City could overtake The Whites. Leeds was therefore sentenced to play-offs, in which Derby County was very surprisingly strong over two games.

This season, Leeds will once again fight for promotion to the highest level in England. That will do without the surprisingly departed to Brentford Pontus Jansson and Samu Sáiz (FC Girona). Leeds has not (yet) made many purchases during this transfer period. Only Hélder Costa can be seen as a real reinforcement. The Portuguese left winger is rented from Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season.

Last week it came out that Kemar Roofe is in the interest of the Belgian Anderlecht. Last season, Roofe was of great value to The Whites with many important goals. Vincent Kompany’s team seems to have more than € 8 million left for the Jamaican striker.

PREDICTION: Under 2,5 goals @ 1,85
