A groundbreaking duel will take place on Sunday in the Vonovia Ruhrstadion in Bochum. The last weakening SV Sandhausen travels to VfL, who is optimistic about this duel after the last results.
The two away wins in Wiesbaden and Dresden greatly improved the starting position for the men from Castroper Strasse and with a home win against the Württemberg players the next step out of the basement should be done.
The SVS, on the other hand, looks back on a catastrophic series in the last four games and the starting position, which was dazzling after four weeks, deteriorated drastically. Because of this, it is also understandable that in the game Bochum against Sandhausen the bookmakers do not make a good forecast for the guests.
The winner of this game takes three important points against relegation. The kick-off in the Vonovia Ruhrstadion will sound on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Will Bochum score again in their own stadium after three home defeats in a row?
Bochum:
The jubilation on Saturday afternoon was huge when Vitaly Janelt scored the 2-1 winning goal for the construction whites at Dynamo Dresden in the third minute of added time. A very important success in the relegation battle was celebrated and gives the VfL a little air for now.
Bochum currently has a total of six wins and eight draws on their credit side. With the 26 points achieved in this way, the team of head coach Thomas Reis is in 13th place in the second division table. However, the advantage over Karlsruhe located on the relegation site is only two points.
It is therefore all the more important to go straight into the home game against the weakening SV Sandhausen. With success, VfL would at least pass the direct opponent and catapult the Württembergers further into the relegation swirl.
The men from Castroper Straße can rely on their offensive in this endeavor. With 36 goals scored, only the three teams at the top of the table are more successful than Bochum. The defense is quite different. With 41 goals conceded, only Nuremberg and the KSC conceded even more goals.
But this was also well worked on during the winter break. In the last three games goalkeeper Manuel Riemann only had to fish the ball twice from his own goal.
The Bochum team got six points from the last three games, which were immensely important in the fight against relegation, as the blue and whites with contractions Wiesbaden (1-0) and Dynamo Dresden (2-1) defeated direct opponents against relegation.
Sandhausen:
Difficult times are coming for the SVS! After a convincing first half of the season, which the black and white finished ninth, the Württembergers have now landed in the table cellar again. A familiar picture for Sandhausen, who have not had a single-digit place at the end of the season in the second division in the past seven years.
In the 23 games they have completed, the SVS has so far won six times and split nine times with a draw. That adds up to 27 counters. So far, only four narrow points have been added in the second half. The advantage over the relegation place is therefore only three points.
When you look at the last SVS games, you can get scared. In Nuremberg (0: 2) and Darmstadt (0: 1) as well as against Heidenheim (0: 1) and the KSC (0: 2) there was nothing to get for the Württemberg team.
Since the winter break, the black and whites have only scored three points in Osnabrück.
It is particularly frightening that the SVS has not scored a single goal in the last four games.
With only 24 goals on the credit side, the SVS is the second worst offensive in the league. Only Dynamo Dresden is even less successful with 21 goals. The strength of the guests is certainly on the defensive, which has only allowed 27 goals so far. However, this only helps to a limited extent if the knot does not slowly burst again in the storm.
Except for the two long-term injuries Erik Zenga and Markus Karl, all men are on board at SVS. Can Uwe Koschinat’s team overturn the goat and finally score points again?
PREDICTION: Bochum to win @ 2,18
