Boavista vs Tondela PREVIEW & PREDICTION 27/09/2019

Dwarven rebellion in the Portuguese league NOS? The current table in Portugal shows a completely unusual picture after six rounds. At the top of the table is Famalicao, a climber, but otherwise there are teams in the top who were not expected. One of these teams is the former champion Boavista. Matchday seven opens in Porto with the duel between Boavista and Tondela!

The master from the year 2001 has established himself in midfield in recent years and is currently even on the excellent fifth place in the table. The Elf of Lito Vidigal had yet to accept any defeat. However, a team at the Estadio do Bessa, which performed far better in foreign countries than in front of a home crowd, is now touring with Tondela.

Boavista:

The logo of Boavista Porto is a little reminiscent of a chessboard and is actually considered a memento of the club’s chess section. In 2001, it was the biggest success in club history. A little later, however, the club was on the ground, because Boavista Porto was occupied in 2008 with a forced descent due to the influence of referees.

A year-long lawsuit was the result and finally got Boavista Porto right and the club fought his way back to the Portuguese House of Lords. From league three it went directly into the top division (2014/15). In the first two years the relegation battle was the dominant theme, meanwhile the team has established itself.

A league defeat did not exist for the Vidigal team this season. In addition to two wins four draws were recorded. It is striking that games with Boavista participation do not guarantee a spectacle. Only on the first matchday there was an over 2.5 – last but six games with a maximum of two goals.

There are not many goals since the league return. In the five years in the league NOS were 35 scored hits in 34 games so far, the highest for Boavista Porto. A peat festival can therefore not be expected with the best will.

Tondela:

Tondela, a city in the center of Portugal with just under 4,500 inhabitants, is represented in the Portuguese Football Upper House since the 2015/16 season. The “village club” has had to deal regularly with the issue of relegation battle. The best result so far was the eleventh place in the 2017/18 season. Last year, the league only succeeded with a 5-2 win on the final day.

After the shivering last year, the paths between club and head coach Pepa separated, as successor to the Spaniard Natxo Gonzalez was committed. However, there was not only a new coach, but also the squad was completely put on new legs. Many newcomers (mostly free or borrowed) have found their way to Tondela.

The first conclusion after six match days is quite positive. With a balanced 2-2-2 balance, eight points are on the credit side and Tondela is currently ranked eighth in the table. Striking is the fact that the Gonzalez-Elf on third place is still without defeat. Seven points collected Tondela in the foreign. In front of the home crowd, there was only one point.

Due to the strong performances on foreign grass between Boavista and Tondela, the odds on the guests appear a bit high set. Here, under certain circumstances, the tip on the Double Chance X or Tondela could prove to be quite lucrative.

Unlike the games of Boavista Porto, games involving CD Tondela are definitely for the fans of offensive football. Although two games ended in a goalless draw, they have seen a total of 18 goals in the six games so far.
