Tottenham vs Fulham PREVIEW & PREDICTION 30/12/2020

A new London derby will take place on Wednesday evening, from 18:00, in the 16th round of the Premier League. Tottenham will receive the visit of Fulham, in a match in which Jose Mourinho cannot count on Lo Celso and Bale. The Welshman is recovering and cannot yet be used as a Spurs starter. Even so, the hosts have the offensive force offered by the “sparkles” of Hojbjerg, Kane, Son, Lamela, Bergwijn or Moura.

Fulham are on the rise and are hoping for a save, especially as Scott Parker’s team looked good against the Giants. On Wednesday, at Fulham, only Kongolo and Tete are uncertain, so the rest of the black and whites are fit to play and Parker has a choice of the winning formula. Tottenham is not in shape at all and comes after a series of four consecutive stages without a victory, so Mourinho’s team dropped to 5th place in the standings (goal difference 26-15). However, the Londoners are only 6 points behind the leader Liverpool and have not yet given up in the fight for the first position.

Obviously, Tottenham dream of the title, but for that they have to “solve” the accessible matches, with teams like Fulham. The newly-promoted is on the 18th place (goal difference 13-28) and recorded four consecutive draws in the Premier League, thus having an impressive invincible series. During these matches, Fulham received only two goals, with Liverpool (1-1) and Newcastle (1-1), drawing white with Brighton and Southampton. Overall, Fulham’s game is growing, but the difference in individual quality is clear in favor of Tottenham.

Spurs comes after a 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton, where the visitors led until the 86th minute, when Saiss equalized for the “wolves” on Molineux. The score was opened by Ndombele, in the first minute of the game, from Ben Davies’ pass. It was a game in which Tottenham withdrew too defensively and paid dearly in the end.

Tottenham convincingly won the last five direct duels with Fulham, last time in 2019, at Craven Cottage, 2-1. It was also the hardest success in this series, because it took the goal scored in overtime by Winks, for the victory of the visitors. Fulham have scored at least once in 4 of Tottenham’s last 5 matches and the visitors certainly hope to take advantage of Spurs’ lack of concentration on the counterattack. It is possible that we will finally witness a spectacular match in which Fulham is involved, and the odds are very attractive.

We will bet on corners in the second half, the motivation being simple: if Fulham resisted and will not be led to the break, Tottenham will attack its rival (which is generous with corner bets anyway). As a result, we will see many opportunities at Areola’s goal, and the rejected centerings and sutures can produce at least 5 corner kicks in the second half.
