Tottenham vs Antwerp PREVIEW & PREDICTION 10/12/2020

Tottenham and Antwerp meet in a Group J match of the UEFA Champions League. The match will be played on Thursday, at 20:00, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham have suffered just two defeats this season, 0-1 to Everton in the first leg of the Premier League, and 0-1 to Antwerp in the Europa League. Jose Mourinho’s team goes perfectly in the championship, where it occupies the first position after 11 stages, being equal in points with Liverpool.

The Londoners also excelled in the Europa League, being already confident of occupying one of the first two positions of group J. Moreover, Spurs even have the chance to win the group, in case of a success obtained on their own field in front of the in Antwerp. In the round, the Belgians produced the surprise and won with the score of 1-0.

The current form of the Tottenham team is really impressive, considering the fact that in the last three stages of the Premier League they met only top teams, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City. Two victories at home (with Arsenal and City) and a draw (at Chelsea) were the results obtained by Jose Mourinho’s team, but what is most important is the fact that Tottenham did not receive a goal in these matches.

On the other hand, Antwerp presents itself in this confrontation after a drastic defeat suffered in the internal competition. Ivan Leko’s students were defeated 4-2 on the field of Genk, the leader of the Belgian championship. It was the 4th failure suffered by Antwerp in the current season in Belgium, all coming in games played on foreign soil.

Tottenham has the chance to win group J with a victory obtained at home, in front of Antwerp. The Belgians have shown this season that they are a “hard nut”, but Spurs seem to be, at the moment, the kind of team that can beat anyone. In the round match, the British did not show a very good form, being quite unconcentrated, especially at the end. We rely on the victory of the hosts, but also on at least two goals scored.

In the tour of this group, Antwerp prevailed on its own field, with the score of 1-0;
The Belgians occupy the first position in group J, with 12 points, being followed by Tottenham, with 10 points;
Spurs have the best offensive in the group, with 13 goals scored, while Antwerp has the strongest defense, with only 3 goals conceded;
