AFC Wimbledon vs Peterborough PREVIEW & PREDICTION 02/12/2020

On Wednesday night, from 18:00, AFC Wimbledon and Peterborough play in the 15th round of League One, in the third division in England. No wonder Peterborough is the favorite to win, but the match will be very balanced and the Londoners can put big problems at home.

On Plow Lane there are two bands that have a good shape in the back. Peterborough recently lost two matches, but is now in 2nd place in the division with 28 points (goal difference 23-13). The leader is Hull, with 30 points. AFC Wimbledon has only 4 victories in 13 stages and a goal difference of 16-16, but at home it has only lost twice so far. Instead, Peterborough has four wins and three draws in the season, with a long series without a draw “outside”.

Last season, AFC Wimbledon frustratedly lost the game at Gillingham, score 1-2. This was followed by a win after extra time with Barrow, in the English Cup, and then a failure at home, against Crawley (1-2), also in the Cup. Overall, Wimbledon has shown that it feels better when it is not the favorite in secondary competitions, and the Londoners are looking to assert themselves as a force on their own field, in League One. Peterborough “sacrificed” the match with Chroley (1-2), to focus on the fight from the promotion. Having only one victory in the last 5 official matches, the white-blues must raise their defensive level, otherwise they will have great emotions.

Regarding the history of direct duels, we see an interesting statistical detail. The last four direct duels were won by the host team. Wimbledon won twice and Peterborough won twice. For three I witnessed the same final score, 1-0 for the hosts.

In 4 of the last 5 direct duels, less than three goals were scored;
They have scored under 2.5 goals in 7 of Peterborough’s last 8 away games;
AFC Wimbledon is without victory in 9 of the last 10 championship matches, at home;
Peterborough have a 77% pass percentage this season. The hosts have 64%;
Peterborough enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession. The hosts have 45%;

PREDICTION: Both teams to score / YES @ 1,71
