Monday evening will be closed – in the Netherlands – with a poster between two teams that had hoped for a better start. Both Telstar and FC Den Bosch now know what it feels like to win and lose, but in this game only one can be the winner.
Telstar:
Andries Jonker’s team got off to a reasonable start in the Kitchen Champion Division. In four games, there were two wins, one draw and one loss. That puts Telstar in fourth place, but should the upcoming game win, the team can even enter the top-3. In the first round of play, De Witte Leeuwen lost a 2-0 lead against FC Volendam. A week later, Jonker’s side got revenge for two goals from left-back Shayne Pattynama. The away match against FC Eindhoven was won 2-3. The club from Velsen-Zuid suffered its first defeat this season on the third match day. MVV only defeated Telstar in the 88th minute, leaving 1-2 on the scoreboard in the Rabobank IJmond Stadium.
Last Tuesday, Telstar was able to take revenge again by booking results in Kralingen. At Woudestein, the 5-3-2 formation from Jonker quickly conceded a goal. In the second half Telstar tied the score thanks to midfielder Sven van Doorm. The clubs seemed to start playing right away until Telstar changed just before time. In the 87th minute, Yaël Liesdek came in and seven minutes later he scored the winning. In the 95th minute, Telstar took the points at the last minute in a difficult away match against Excelsior. The five defenders did not allow league top scorer Elias Omarsson to score.
FC Den Bosch:
In the first round of play, Erik van der Ven’s team offered excellent opposition to de Graafschap. Still, the team conceded four goals against and lost 4-2. The team from Brabant soon fell behind against FC Dordrecht, but via Paco van Moorsel and Kevin Felida the deficit was turned into a victory. In addition to De Graafschap, another difficult bill was now on the program with an away match against NAC Breda. Jizz Hornkamp scored the opening goal in the Rat Verlegh Stadium, but in the second half Sydney van Hooijdonk turned two goals that prevented Van der Ven’s team from going to Den Bosch with the points.
In the midweek round of play, a great win was booked against MVV Maastricht. FC Den Bosch was the better team in the ninety minutes and won 2-0. As a result, the team now has six points from four games. Erik van der Ven is happy that the start – in his own words – is above expectations. “We don’t have our points for nothing. I am very satisfied with how things are going at the moment. The boys’ drive and experience is good and they are all reasonably task-conscious. “Spoke the FC Den Bosch teacher.
PREDICTION: Telstar to win @ 2,02
