On Tuesday, starting with 19:45, the Cyprus – Azerbaijan match will be played, within the 2nd round of the League of Nations, League C. The two teams have not met before, thus being a duel for the first time. Cyprus was defeated in the first match by Montenegro, score 0-2, and Azerbaijan lost to Luxembourg, score 1-2, both at home.
Cyprus started the campaign in the League of Nations modestly, being clearly dominated at home in the defeat with Montenegro, score 0-2. The Jovetic star scored a double for the Montenegrins and ruined the debut of the Cypriot coach, the Belgian Johan Walem. Cyprus played in Group 3 of League C at the previous edition of the League of Nations, where it finished in 3rd place, behind Norway and Bulgaria, but over Slovenia. The Cypriots have ticked a victory with Slovenia, and now they are aiming for a new success in this inter-country competition.
Azerbaijan was defeated by Luxembourg at home, score 1-2, in the first round of the League of Nations. The team coached by the Italian Gianni De Biasi, who was on his debut on the technical bench, evolved from the 26th minute with one less man on the field, after the elimination of Emreli, thus facilitating the mission of the Luxembourgers. Azerbaijan was part of League D in the previous edition of the competition, getting promotion to League C after beating Malta and the Faroe Islands, but following the national team from Kosovo.
