Rangers vs St. Mirren PREVIEW & PREDICTION 09/08/2020

On Sunday, from 15:00, Glasgow Rangers and St. Mirren meet in the second round of the Scottish Premier League. Ianis Hagi’s team is the favorite, in front of a team that barely escaped relegation in the previous season. There are important absences in the two camps, and Rangers is slightly “weak” after moving from the Europa League to Leverkusen.

In the first round, Rangers won 1-0 at Aberdeen, in a match dominated head-to-tail by the white-blues. If St. Mirren started the season well, also with a victory at the limit, score 1-0 in Livingston. However, the difference in size between Livingston and Rangers is certainly big and the guests do not have high hopes for points on the weekend. In the last direct duels, Rangers did not even receive a goal from the black and whites, beaten with 0-2, 0-2, 0-4, 0-1 and 0-1.

St. Mirren has unpleasant memories from the last trip played in the championship: it was 0-5 on the field of the Celtic champion, in a match without history. At the same time, St. Mirren has lost the last five games played at Ibrox Park, most of the time without appeal. We expect a similar match, in which Steven Gerrard’s students will dominate territorially and will have chances to score from the first half. If they play at full capacity, the favorites should score.

Rangers have won 10 of the last 11 direct duels with St. Mirren;
St. Mirren has not scored in five games against Rangers;
In 7 of the last 9 matches of Rangers he scored only one team;
In 4 of the last 5 matches of St. Mirren scored under 2.5 goals;

PREDICTION: Over 2,5 goals @ 1,61
