Derby vs Brentford PREVIEW & PREDICTION 11/07/2020

On Saturday, at 12:30, Derby County and Brentford duel in the 43rd round of the Championship, the English second league. The hosts coached by Philipp Cocu cannot rely on Bielik, Marriott and Wisdom, but they are in the middle of a fight for promotion, just like Brentford. The guest team comes to the match without Canos, Karelis and Baptiste, all of them being injured.

On Pride Park there are two very good teams from the second echelon. Brentford is in 3rd place (goal average 75-34) and needs success to hope for the second position, which saves her from the playoffs and sends her directly to the Premier League! On the first positions in the Championship are West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United, the performers of the season. Brentford have lost just one of their last eight league games, and in the previous three away games they have each run under 10.5 corners.

Derby County is on the 9th place (goal average 56-55) and has 61 points, with two consecutive stages without victory. Even so, Cocu’s team is three points away from the play-off zone and will rely on the inspiration of the goal scorer Waghorn, for a big victory at home. But Brentford is a solid team, which defends itself well and masters the art of counterattack, with Watkins and Benrahma in good shape. By the way, Ollie Watkins is also the league’s top scorer, with 23 successes.

Derby comes after a draw with Nottingham (1-1) and lost on WBA’s ground (0-2), in a difficult derby. Prior to these matches, The Rams had three hits in a row, with Milwall, Reading and Preston. Instead, Brentford is in great shape and has five consecutive league victories: 2-0 with Fulham, 1-0 with WBA, 3-0 with Reading, 3-0 with Wigan and 2-1 with Charlton. In the round, Brentford won 3-0 at home, in a match without history, decided at the break.

-Brentford have won only one direct duel in the last five, the tour;
-At least three goals have been scored in each of the previous four direct duels;
-The previous six direct duels of the two were recorded in a single draw;
-Brentford have scored at least two goals in 77% of their last 9 league matches;
