On Friday the third round of the new season of the Kitchen Champion Division will be kicked off. Helmond Sport and Almere City have different, but both ambitious ambitions. Will the teams succeed in achieving this this season?
Helmond:
Helmond Sport has a target this season in the middle bracket and that is fairly ambitious. The team was last season’s closing of the Kitchen Champion Division with only 22 points from 38 games. The gap with the other teams, except for Young FC Utrecht, was immense. The Helmonders also do not have the best team of the competition this season, but hope to make up for a lot. Wil Boessen saw how his players made a passionate impression in the first match against FC Volendam, but last weekend his players got a big beating.
Boessen knew that an away match against NAC Breda on paper is one of the most difficult of the competition, but he would not have expected that his team would not give up at all. Helmond Sport looked at a 4-0 deficit at halftime. Thanks to the final 5-1 defeat, the Helmonders are standing with both feet on the ground again. The team also lacks scoring ability and Boessen hopes to welcome an offensive reinforcement before closing the transfer deadline.
Almere City:
Almere City managed to end up in the left row as a team in recent years. It was never successful during the play-offs alone. Nevertheless, the club’s objective is to promote to the Eredivisie in the short term. Instead of aiming at young talents, the Almeerders choose experience. In addition to Thomas Verheydt and Ruud Boymans, Dico Koppers was also recruited. Earlier this week, defender Bart Meijers signed a one-year contract after a successful internship and this means that all positions are double occupied in the selection of trainer Robert Molenaar.
Molenaar saw how in the first league match his team still stopped 1-1 against Roda JC, last weekend Almere City took the full booty for its own audience against Young PSV. Via goals from Radinio Balker and Youri Loen, the home team went into the changing rooms with a comfortable 2-0 lead. Young PSV equalized the score after the break, but in the end it was Verheydt who gave Almere City the lead ten minutes before the end. With four points from two games, the team started the season well.
PREDICTION: Almere City to win @ 1,87
