Kenya vs Senegal PREVIEW & PREDICTION 01/07/2019

In the last group match between Kenya and Senegal in group C of the Africa Cup, the excitement can be cut. Both countries still have a chance to win a place in the eighth finals!

Kenya:

Kenya has to work on Monday evening, because it must necessarily win to grab second place in group C. With a 3-2 victory over neighboring country Tanzania, The Harambee Stars managed to recover well from their 2-0 defeat against Algeria in the opening game, but still have to leave second place to Senegal on the basis of a worse goal balance. In a draw or defeat against Senegal, Kenya finishes in third place, and it must therefore hope that it is one of the best numbers three still qualified for the eighth finals of the Africa Cup. The current three points will probably suffice, although it is of course dangerous to gamble on that. Click here for the full score of the best numbers three.

In any case, Kenya showed against Tanzania that it is mentally strong by bending back twice from a backlog. Deep striker Michael Olunga was the big hero with two goals. “I am so proud of this team,” said star player Victor Wanyama. ‘We have shown character and have shown that we can play well if we work together as a team. Against Senegal we are of course the underdog, but if we fight again in this way, anything is possible. ” However, national coach Sebastien Migne will mainly be concerned about his rear, who has already had four goals in just two Africa Cup games.

Senegal:

Senegal had no trouble with Tanzania in its opening match with a 2-0 victory, but lost in its second group match with 0-1 against Algeria. The Lions of Teranga can therefore write a group win on their stomachs, but a draw in the last group match is enough to rank as number two behind Algeria in the last sixteen countries of the Africa Cup. In that case, a confrontation with the number two of group A awaits Uganda in the eighth finals. With a surprising defeat against Kenya, Senegal still has a good chance to continue as one of the best numbers three in the knockout phase, although the country would have to compete directly with one of the group winners. That scenario will be avoided by coach Aliou Cisse at all costs.

Senegal therefore clearly still has to grow in the tournament. The selection of the West Africans has, among others, Keita Balde, Sadio Mane, and Kalidou Koulibaly various star players in their ranks, but against Algeria they did not come out well. Mane was constantly threatening with his speed and perhaps should have received a penalty, but the team mainly hung together like loose sand. If Cisse is smart, he will put Idrissa Gueye in the base again on Monday evening, so that he can dictate the Senegalese game from midfield.
