St. Liege vs Gent PREVIEW & PREDICTION 10/05/2019

Friday, at 19:30, Standard Liege will receive a visit to Gent in a match for the 8th round of the Belgian championship play-off. The match will take place at the “Maurice Dufrasne” stadium in Liege.

Surprisingly, on Friday night in Liege, we will see a direct duel between Standard Liege and Gent in which both bands are completely out of shape. With the exception of the “green table” derby against the Anderlecht rivals, Standard has lost all four other matches played over the past two months. Even so, thanks to the good play-off start, Razvan Marin & Co. is still in an advantageous position in the context that he could hope to take Antwerp’s face in the fight for the last podium, the difference being just two points. On the other hand, Gent “took her to the valley” in this play-off. With only one point out of 21 possible, Gent’s form tells everything, so it’s no surprise that it lasts without having any chance at any European place. However, we will focus on the offensive potential of the two bands, believing that two of the weakest defensive play-offs in Belgium will clash against each other.

In the last ten direct confrontations between the two bands, Gent was forced four times, Standard Liege four more times, while the other two disputes ended in a tie;

The previous four direct duels ended with voids on both sides;

The last direct play took place in the play-off tournament, when Standard won at Gent, score 2-1;

Given the circumstances of this game, we expect a spectacular hostile run. Even in the context of both combatants being in the outcomes crisis, this does not exclude their offensive potential and the desire to offset recent bad results.
