Germany vs Serbia PREVIEW & PREDICTION 20/03/2019

Germany and Serbia meet in an international friendly that will be played on the VfL Wolfsburg stadium. The game will take place on Wednesday at 19:45.

The two representatives met three times to date, two of the Germans’ wins. However, the most recent duel was won by the Serbs with a score of 1-0, the match played at the World Championship in 2010.

After the shameful elimination of the 2018 World Championship groups, Germany’s selectionist produced some changes at the level of the batch, the experimenters Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng were not chosen for this confrontation. In their absence, Timo Wener and Leroy Sane, two of the players who have impressed lately, are expected to appear on the field.

On the other hand, Serbia is proposing an impressive line of attack, led by Luka Jovic, the second best scorer of the season in the Bundesliga, with 15 successes in 24 matches. Next to him are Dusan Tadic, the star of Ajax Amsterdam, Aleksandr Mitrovic or Adem Ljajic, who are backed by Nemanja Matic in the middle and Aleksandar Kolarov in defense.

The modest results of the World Championship continued in the UEFA Nations League where Germany failed to win at least one of the four games they played, being defeated in the Netherlands (3-0) and France (2- 1), teams with which they drew on their own field, 2-2, respectively 0-0.

The Serbs did much better in this competition, recording four wins and two draws in the six games they played, but the level of the opponents was much lower than that of the teams in Germany.

At first glance, the Joachim Low team seemed to be floating in the air. Hummels and Boateng were two basic pieces in the Germans’ defenses, and in the absence of the two, Germany may face real problems when guests attack. With players like Tadic, Ljajic or Jovic in attack, Serbia has the necessary force to score at least one goal in this friendly match.
