Everton vs Wolves PREVIEW & PREDICTION 02/02/2019

Everton and Wolverhampton meet in the 25th round of the Premier League on Saturday at 15:00.

Both of them fight for the 7th place behind the leading squad of England, but the results seem rather impressive for Nuno Espirito Santo – Wolverhampton wolves boast with the best balance of a new Premier League promotion over the last decade. On the other side, Marco Silva has had a spectacular acquisition campaign in the summer, but the results do not confirm the ambitions of “caramels”.

There are two bands that have an attractive style, based on the offensive. In 14 of Everton‘s 24 matches this season marked both teams, statistics highlighting the ability of Marco Silva’s students, but also their defensive vulnerability. Wolverhampton will be cautious in moving away from Goodison Park, but the 3-4-3 system used by Nuno Espirito Santo will bring “wolves” at least on the counter. Everton is on the 8th place (goal 35-33), and Wolverhampton on 7 (30-31). Home, Everton has only 3 failures this season, while the visiting team has lost only 4 away.

In the duel of Portuguese managers we expect to see two fluid bands, willing to keep the ball in possession and pass a lot on the grass. With quality players such as Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Ruben Neves or Raul Jimenez, the ball will be kept in play for long periods of time, which could be detrimental to many bets. A first inning, with no more than one goal scored, would leave a better pace in the second half. The tour was 2-2 on Molineux, when the flashes of the stars of the two camps offered an exhilarating show.

The last two direct duels (and 4 of the last 6) between Wolves and Everton ended in a draw, but these clubs have played a single duel in the last 7 years, so statistics are irrelevant from this point of view. In the last three stages of the Wolverhampton championship I have always witnessed at least three goals scored, a very good weekend bet. Perhaps the “wolves” would be pleased with Goodison Park and Everton will have the initiative, given that he has not lost seven direct duels against Wolves.
