St. Gilloise vs KV Mechelen PREVIEW & PREDICTION 09/09/2018

On Sunday afternoon, Union receives KV Mechelen in its own Dudenpark for the fifth matchday in the Proximus League. Can KV confirm after the first victory of last week?

St. Gilloise :

Union continues to perform reasonably changeable. Despite good football, there was only won once. Because of this, one stands at the bottom of the standings with 3 on 12. Last weekend there was narrowly lost against Beerschot-Wilrijk. It was 1-0 for De Ratten after a goal from Hoffer. Union created opportunities for the equalizer but was not efficient enough and therefore returned to Brussels empty-handed.

KV Mechelen is coming to visit this weekend. Again not an easy task, but there may be opportunities on the counter. The defense of KV lacks speed and, in my opinion, remains an uncertain impression. If top scorer Niakaté finds his good form, there may be opportunities.

KV Mechelen:

Kversvers head coach Wouter Vrancken debuted with a 1-0 victory against Tubeke. Still, it did not all run smoothly, because especially in the initial phase there were some opportunities for the Walloon Brabanters. After this, KV recovered the balance and in the added time of the first half, man in shape, Tainmont scored the goal that led to the victory. The returning Joachim Van Damme, who came over from Waasland-Beveren, also played a strong game in midfield.

On Sunday afternoon De Kakkers will travel to the Dudenpark. It will be especially important to confirm that. 5 out of 12 remains a moderate start for a title favorite. Nevertheless, the victory will not be a sinecure. Union proved at home against OHL that, despite the loss, it is dangerous to come out of the corner. A stable organization will be crucial because KV did not manage to keep the zero this season. If they do, they will have a good chance on the three points because there is enough scoring ability in the front.
