G.A EAGLES VS EINDHOVEN PREVIEW & PREDICTION
In the Adelaarshorst, two teams are facing each other on Friday-evening, who have nothing left to play for. FC Eindhoven finished a while ago in the battle for the playoffs, while the cloth for the Eagles fell a lot more recently.
Go Ahead Eagles:
The fact that Go Ahead Eagles will almost certainly not end with the best fifteen teams of the Jupiler League is one of the biggest surprises of Dutch professional football. The selection of the team from Deventer has Eredivisie experience and the stadium on the Vetkampstraat still impresses. Yet coach Jan van Staa has not succeeded in directing the Eagles towards the playoffs in recent months. Go Ahead dropped far too often through the lower limit and threw the last few weeks the last chance by noting three losses in a row. Thus the Eagles no longer play a role in the fourth period.
That Go Ahead Eagles is not doing well at the moment and that some players may already have their heads at the approaching holiday or at a different club became clear in the away match against Jong PSV on Tuesday-evening. The Eindhoven team scored happy in the Philips Stadium and that resulted in a decisive 4-0 position after 45 minutes of football. After the tea came two goals from the men of trainer Dennis Haar. 6-0, therefore, and the question is whether the players are still motivated for the last three matches of the competition.
The Eagles will appear battered at the kick-off against FC Eindhoven. For example, basic players such as Sam Hendriks, Jeff Stans and Bruno Andrade are injured and Sjoerd Overgoor will have to cancel the race due to a suspension. As a result players such as Joey Groenbast and Orhan Dzepar appear again in the base.
FC Eindhoven:
The supporters of FC Eindhoven had undoubtedly expected more from the blue-whites before the start of the season. The selection has been struggling all season with a long injury list and in addition, a lack of stability has continued to play a factor. Coach David Nascimento, who took over the baton from Wilfred van Leeuwen during the season, has failed to push FC Eindhoven to the top ten. The last twelve games even resulted in nine losses and FC Eindhoven dropped to sixteenth place.
Last Monday the fans finally had something to cheer for. Helmond Sport came to visit at the Jan Louwers Stadium and that is by far the most important match for the supporters. Tibo van de Velde scored twice on the Aalsterweg and later it was Tibeau Swinnen who managed to play the decisive goal against the ropes. The 3-2 final score gave the FC Eindhoven players a welcome boost. Chance of placement for the playoffs is no longer there and that is why the sense of honor will now play a role in the last three games of the season.
At FC Eindhoven the attack will be led again by Mart Lieder, the current top scorer of the Jupiler League. The striker was suspended for the meeting with Helmond Sport, but on Friday-evening he returned to the base.
PREDICTION: G.A. Eagles to win @ 1.90
