WATFORD VS BURNLEY PREVIEW & PREDICTION
The good performing Burnley will visit Watford this weekend. Watford is also doing pretty well in the Premier League this season and if the Watford manages to take three points when Burnley passes on Vicarage Road, Watford seems to be guaranteed another season of football at the highest level in England.
Watford:
37 points Watford has already collected this season in the Premier League. The Hornets knew last season with a seventeenth place as final classification just the dance towards the Championship to spring and at Watford they had planned ahead of this season to keep it not so exciting until the end. For the time being, it also seems that Watford is entering some boring last six games this season, as The Hornets only need three points to reach the safe limit of forty points.
After defeats on a visit to Arsenal (3-0) and Liverpool (5-0), Watford played another game last weekend in their own stadium. The last three home games were won by Watford, as The Hornets were too strong for Chelsea and Everton, 4-1, and West Bromwich Albion both lost 1-0 on Vicarage Road. Last Saturday against Bournemouth, Watford again appeared to hold the three points in-house, but the Hornets failed twice to hold onto a lead. Watford had to cash in the 2-2 of Bournemouth in the 90th minute and had to settle for a run against Bournemouth. Because of the draw against Bournemouth, Javi Gracia’s team has been unbeaten six games on Vicarage Road and if The Hornets manages to get some points outside of their own stadium this season, a place in the left row might be in front of Watford .
Burnley:
Burnley’s recipe is pretty clear this season: trying to score a solid defense with long balls. For the time being, the way of playing Burnley coach Sean Dyche is paying off; Burnley is in seventh place in the Premier League and has good papers to finish behind the big six clubs of England. That would also be quite right for The Clarets, because every team has a tough time with Burnley this season and it looks like Dyche is getting the most out of his team this season.
Burnley has won the last three matches and at Burnley they want to give those victories a good follow-up on Watford. Last weekend, Burnley was able to win 1-2 with a visit to West Bromwich Albion and Burnley set the number of wins this season at six. That’s one more win than Burnley has managed to achieve in the last three seasons and that statistic shows once again that Burnley is going through a great season in the Premier League. No matter what happens in the coming weeks with Burnley the season can not really play any more for The Clarets, but a seventh place as final classification would really be the icing on the cake for the hard work of Dyche and his team.
PREDICTION: Over 1.5 goals @ 1.44
