JONG UTRECHT VS G.A EAGLES PREVIEW & PREDICTION
Go Ahead Eagles is still unbeaten in the fourth period and hopes to grab the last prize to reach the playoffs. The meeting with Jong FC Utrecht seems to be suitable in advance for a new result.
Jong FC Utrecht:
Young FC Utrecht is still the ugly duckling of the Jupiler League. The team of trainer Robin Pronk can suddenly get a good start on a good day, but more often the results and the performance are disappointing. This has resulted in the fact that it is already quite certain that the Domstedles will end up in last place. The current number twenty of the Jupiler League collected twenty points so far and there are nine fewer than RKC Waalwijk, the club that is currently in the nineteenth position. No team will be relegated to the Second Division this season and that means that during the last weeks of the competition, Jong FC Utrecht will be free to play football. The last five games yielded three points. Four defeats in a row and a surprising victory in visiting AZ.
That victory was achieved on Friday evening in Wijdewormer and it is rightly said that the visitors owed the three points to the inspirations of Nick Venema. The attacker, who was also admired three times in the Eredivisie this season, produced one of his best matches of the year. Before half time he scored three times and with that the match was decided. Tijani Reijnders scored a draw in the 76th minute, but that goal did not influence the result, so Jong FC Utrecht booked the fifth victory of the season.
The question now is whether Jong FC Utrecht can extend this line against Go Ahead Eagles. The game will be played on Monday afternoon and that means there is a possibility that there is accretion from the first team. Pronk mostly plays with a young and relatively inexperienced team so the input will probably be minimal. For Pronk and the other players of Jong FC Utrecht, it would be nice if Venema again belongs to the match selection. The attacker produced six goals in his last five games.
Go Ahead Eagles:
The current sixteenth place of Go Ahead Eagles does not seem to belong to the ambitions of the club, but the fourth period could save the season for the team from Deventer. Peaks at the right time is now the motto and for that matter, it seems to be right now. The Eagles did not lose the last five matches anymore and as a result, the mixing of the men from trainer Jan van Staa is now in the battle for the fourth period. Recently, on a dramatic afternoon, De Graafschap lost, but then three victories and two draws followed. The formation of Van Staa started the last period by playing a draw against Telstar at home, but then FC Dordrecht and Helmond Sport were won.
That match against Helmond Sport on Friday night was another crucial duel for the Eagles, especially given the fact that the visitors also have a good shape. Joey Suk put Van Staa’s team on a 1-0 lead and the game seemed to be decided later when Stephen Warmolts was sent off the field. Helmond Sport, however, straightened the back and almost immediately after that red card came on a level with the Eagles by a goal from Furhgill Zeldenrust. The game looked like a 1-1 tie, but Givan Werkhoven decided differently. The substitute managed to find the net in the 82nd and the 93rd minute and he gave the Eagles a much needed victory.
Before the match against Helmond Sport, the fitness of captain Xandro Schenk was still a small question mark. The central defender then played just ninety minutes and against Young FC Utrecht he is also expected to kick off again. It becomes interesting to see how Van Staa turns his attack on the right. Aaron Nemane was surprisingly preferred over Werkhoven against Helmond Sport, but the latter made two goals
PREDICTION: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.46
