JONG PSV VS FC EMMEN PREVIEW & PREDICTION
FC Emmen has never promoted to the Eredivisie, but this season Dick Lukkien’s team may get the chance to perform the impossible. The shape is namely excellent. On Monday evening a heavy test is waiting for a visit at Jong PSV.
Jong PSV :
Young PSV got the chance to enter the top three of the Jupiler League in recent weeks, but the Eindhoven team did not succeed in the end. On visiting NEC, the Brabanders went down 2-0 and last week a surprising loss against Young AZ was noted. As a result, the team of coach Dennis Haar fell to sixth place and the tide will have to be turned back to compete for the top places. The difference with number three Fortuna Sittard is only three points, but Jong PSV has yet to close that and there are still more hijackers on the coast. FC Emmen, the opponent on Monday-evening, and Telstar are in between Fortuna Sittard and Jong PSV. Jong PSV lost three of the last seven games and that number is actually too high for a team that strives for the best three.
Last week, Jong PSV, as mentioned, went to visit Jong AZ, a defeat which, given the places in the ranking, was quite surprising. The Alkmaarders had won three games in a row for the game with Jong PSV, but the team from Eindhoven traveled with a strong selection to North Holland. Among other things, she could have players like Armando Obispo, Sam Lammers and Pablo Rosario, but they did not make sure the level was raised. The hosts had already put a 2-0 lead on the board within the hour, and later PSV failed to prevent the loss. Eindhovener Cody Gakpo scored against, but that was it.
Before the match against FC Emmen it is again the question about which players Haar can have. That the game is played on a Monday night is in favor of Jong PSV. Players who have not reached playing minutes at the first team could lend a hand. For example, Obispo, Lammers and Rosario are almost always part of Phillip Cocu’s competition selection, but often they are on the bench for ninety minutes. She will probably be able to come up with a relatively strong team, but he is dependent on Cocu’s choices.
FC Emmen :
Not much was expected from FC Emmen before the start of the season, but now Dick Lukkien’s team is a team that must be taken into account. The formation from Drenthe was difficult to beat before the winter break, but the high number of draws ensured that FC Emmen did not really participate in the battle for the top spot. Lukkien later succeeded in getting his team to play better and that has resulted in great results and statistics. FC Emmen lost only three times and the numbers of the other clubs in the Jupiler League show how handsome this is since all else teams have at least six defeats on the odds. FC Emmen also won the least goals from all clubs. In the last six games, the men of Lukkien left only two points and therefore it is no surprise that FC Emmen has now reached fourth place. The gap with number three Fortuna Sittard has shrunk to a point and that gap could be closed on Monday.
Last week FC Emmen traveled to Friesland with a lot of confidence for the showdown with SC Cambuur. Five victories in a row had resulted in the perfect mindset for that game, but it did not run smoothly against René Hake’s team. The hosts came on an 1-0 lead and for a long time that seemed to be the final score. The visitors finally had to thank Cas Peters for not having suffered the fourth defeat of the season. The attacker knew it in the 71st minute to find that goal proved to be enough to take a tip home.
Lukkien does not have to take into account major injuries for this match and therefore he could start with an unchanged team. Jeroen Veldmate and Glenn Bijl returned to the starting line last week after an absence of a game and they are expected to kick off again against Jong PSV.
