In the first hand of the Portuguese Cup semifinals, on Wednesday, starting at 20:15, FC Porto – Sporting will play. The two bands meet for the second time in just two weeks.

After the less successful results from Sporting (League Cup) and Moreirense, the hosts found their way to victory. In the last round of the championship they were forced to score 3-1 against Braga. Sergio Oliveira, D.Reyes and Aboubakar scored decisively at the end of a game they had controlled from the start. The Cameroon striker scored for the 15th time this season, becoming the main marker of the team with Marega. Thus Porto not only found the way to victory, but also returned to the first position in the ranking, after Sporting’s failure at Estoril. On the way to the semifinals passed Lusitano GC, Portimonense, Guimaraes and Moreirense. Each of these games scored at least three goals.

On the other hand, the guests managed to stay only one stage in the leader’s chair. Although they started from the favor of Estoril in the end, the difference in the rankings was canceled on the field, where they yielded with the score of 0-2. Bas Dost’s absence was felt in the team’s play, despite the 11 occasions. It was only for the second time in the last 14 games played in all competitions, when the offensive failed to find the way to the opponent’s goal. Taking advantage of an easy run, Sporting did not face any problems until this stage of the competitions. Rand ranks Oleiros, Famalicao, Vilaverdense and Cova da Piedade at the end of a game where he scored at least twice.

The last direct confrontation took place this year at the end of January in the League Cup. Then Sporting was forced to make penalties after the regular time was 0-0. It was the second highest score in the last eight straight games.
