Ghana managed to qualify for the African Nations Cup, after winning a group which also included Mozambique, Rwanda and Mauritius.
In qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, Ghana ranks 3rd of the group with a single point accrued in two stages after the draw with Uganda.
Before this tournament, Ghana have played two friendlies. They lost 1-0 against Russia and drew with South Africa 1-1.

On the other side, Uganda has managed to qualify for the African Cup ended after the second position of Group D qualifying with 13 points accumulated in 6 stages.
In qualifying for the World Cup in Russia, Uganda national ranks 2nd of its group with four points obtained after the first 2 matches.
Those in Uganda have played three friendly games before this tournament. They managed to win 3-1 against Slovakia, but gave up on the land of Tunisia (2-0) and Ivory Coast (3-0).
