Match preview: Chievo – Inter

Chievo is over-performing in the league this season, as we see them on 11th position. They miss Luciano for the match. They are unbeaten in 2 matches, both ending 0-0. I doubt that the same result will be repeated this fixture.

Benitez on

Inter lost their biggest derby against Milan without firing a single bullet, so to speak. They failed to present any goods they clearly posess. They have injury problems, but for this match they should be more than ready. They still miss Samuel, Maicon and newest injured player is Milito. However, they still have so much quality to show. Cesar and Cambiasso return to the team.

Inter need to reach top

Inter will have a hard match in Europe also this week, so a good preparation for that is a league win against a side they should really be able to beat. Their main problem with injuries is the defence, but Chievo score rarely that missing Samuel will not be a big factor in this match. Therefore, I pick Inter to win this match.

Match preview: Parma – Sampdoria

Toothless in attack

Despite playing an open game and nice passing, Pasquale Marino’s side have the worst tally in Serie A with only 8 points after the opening 10 games (1W, 5D, 4L) and it`s mainly due to poor finishing, as the Gialloblu have scored just 6 goals, fewer than any other side. However, they managed to keep the things thight at the back, as only 4 sides have let in fewer goals than their tally of 10 goals conceded.

Hard to beat

Sampdoria are proving to be one of Serie A’s most difficult teams to beat, as their single defeat was against Napoli almost 2 months ago (3W, 6D, 1L). Domenico Di Carlo`s lads boast the second best defense in Serie A with just 8 goals conceded, but they are also struggling to score goals, as their scoring tally of 11 goals is the worst from the top9 teams. A reason for the lack of goals could be the absence of hit-man Antonio Cassano, who has been dropped from Domenico Di Carlo`s squad after a conflict with president Garrone.

No firepower in attack

Parma and Sampdoria have been hard nuts to crack this season, as they draw half of their matches, but while they poses reliable back-lines, they lack the firepower up-front. Parma have scored just once in the last 6 matches and they will need an inspired Sebastian Giovinco to end the goal drought, while Doria is much less threatening without Cassano, as the other star-striker, Pazzini, has scored just once in Serie A so far this season. Both sides have drawn three of their last four games, so another bore draw looks the most possible outcome.

Match preview: Roma – Fiorentina

Probable starting eleven: Julio Sergio; Cassetti, Burdisso, Juan, Riise; Menez, De Rossi, Simplicio, Perrotta; Vucinic, Borriello. Coach Claudio Ranieri is without four injured players – Juan, Okaka, Taddei and Pizarro. Plus Cassetti is suspended. However it won`t be a problem as the team is boosted by returning of the captain Francesco Totti. And the team is playing very good, specially at home. Roma is the best host so far in Serie A.

Mihajlovic under pressure

Probable starting eleven: Boruc; Comotto, Gamberini, Kroldrup, Pasqual; Marchionni, Donadel, Bolatti, Vargas; Mutu, Gilardino. Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is under pressure as the results are not good. But last games were positive for Fiorentina. They are unbeaten in the last three games, winning against Bari and Chievo at home and playing a goalless draw away to Catania.For this game coach Mihajlovic will be without Frey, Montolivo, Jovetic, Zanetti, Felipe and Babacar as they are all injured.

An open and efficient match

I expect an open and efficient match at Olympico. Just for the record, the last season match played on 20.09.2009 ended 3:1 for Roma. Now I expect at least three goals. The main reason is that both teams are in good form. Roma is unbeaten in four matches, Fiorentina is unbeaten in three. Roma is having three good strikers in Borriello, Totti and Vucinic. Fiorentina also have good strikers in Gilardino, Mutu, Vargas and Ljajic. Because of that I think there should be goals at this match. Roma will attack and there will be much space for Fiorentina strikers via fast counterattacks. So, I expect at least three goals at Olympico.

Match preview: Juventus – Cesena

Juventus’ European adventure still didn’t get to the desired level as they’ve drawn at home against Salzburg on Thursday and that was their 4th draw in this competition this season. However, in Serie A, Luigi Del Neri’s squad has started to record good results. Last weekend, they beat Milan by 2:1 at San Siro, which brought them to the 4th place in the tables, with only 3 points behind Inter. Juve will do their best to continue their successful streak, but it should be mentioned they didn’t seem too confident at home as they only won 2 out of 4 matches in front of their fans.

Harsh reality

Cesena has started the season in an excellent way by winning over Milan and Lecce but they’re now in danger to be fighting for survival in Serie A till the end of the season. At this point, Cesena has got 8 points from 9 matches and are at the 18th place of the Serie A tables. Last weekend, they lost to Sampdoria only after getting defeated to Novara in the Italian cup by 3:1. Massimo Ficcadenti’s squad lost the last 6 out of 7 matches, recording only one draw. Obviously Cesena is in a very tough situation and it’s hard to believe the things will improve in Turin. The squad still hasn’t won an away game scoring only one goal in the first 4 road matches this season.

Juve`s minimal win

Juve is an absolute favorite at this match and there’s no doubt about that but it should also be mentioned that Krasic won’t be able to play for Juve, a player that has been their main playmaker in the previous matches thanks to whom Juve played very efficient. Match preview: Genoa – Inter

Genoa have made some great signings in the summer, but when the season started they weren`t as good as expected. Great signings like Miguel Veloso came in, but failed to impress. Now they come up against a new Inter side coached by Rafael Benitez and i think that Genoa will lose this match as they just aren`t consistent so far this season and i just can`t see them taking the 3 points from this match. At home they have 4 matches 1 lose, 1draw and 2wins back to back against Bari and Catania, but there is a whole lot of difference between these two and Inter.

Different Inter

This is not the same Inter that Jose Mourinho won the treble last year, Rafa Benitez plays guys like Biabany in the squad that aren`t as good as a Milito i would guess and the team isn`t playing as well as they did last year under Mourinho. Now Benitez is a good manager, and he gets the best out of Eto`o as we can see, he has scored 15 goals in 14 appearances this season in all competitions for Inter. It`s fair to say that when there are goals scored from Inter, you would bet that Eto`o will score, so with that in mind i really think that in this match against Genoa the best bet would be Eto`o to score.

Samuel Eto`o to score

As i said i expect here Samuel Eto`o to score, as he scores every time when Inter has scored goals in a match and i expect Inter to score here against Genoa, therefore i will go for Eto`o to score in this match.

Match preview: Udinese – Palermo

Finally Udinese caught their good form with 2 victories in a row. Argentinian forward Denis is back from long term injury. With him Udinese offence will be much stronger while he is parner of Di Natale and behind these two players Sanchez.

Guidolin`s team will play offencive against Palermo.

Udinese is missing defenders Basta and Domizzi.

League is more important

Palermo played against CSKA Moscow on midweek in Sicily and lost 0-3 at home. We can say Palermo don`t take European league that much serious. They wants to finish Serie A in top 4 for UCL.

Palermo offence is working as a machine even without Miccoli. Pastore , Ilicic is showing huge performance.

Palermo will miss Miccoli and play maker Liverani who are injured and defender Bovo (suspended.)

Another high scoring game by Palermo

Both teams will be on the field to get 3 points. Palermo`s defence is showing bad performance but coach Rossi is happy with performance of his offensive players. Palermo don`t have scoring problems and will try to use their main weapon against Udinese to get point(s) as they did against Fiorentina away.

Di Natale – Denis – Sanchez trio will give troubles to Palermo`s weak defence. After 2 wins Udinese will be greedy for 3rd one.

Match preview: Genoa – Catania

I was expecting a better Genoa this season than last one. But they are really disappointing even with their quality squad. Genoa played Italian cup game on midweek against Grosseto and managed to qualify on ET!

Genoa have troubles before Catania game. Genoa will miss forwards Palacio and Sculli. Without them Luca Toni will not be able to find too many chances. Also midfielders Veloso and Kharja are out due of injuries.

Without Palacio and Sculli Genoa will have difficulties to score against Catania,especially Palacio is really big blow for the team.

Will try harder

After 3 win-less game since Cesena match Catania will try to give another unexpected result to Genoa as they did before against Milan away. Catania knows how to play when they are away from home and don`t give too much spaces to opponents to create chances. They will search goal(s) with counter attacks against Genoa with their quality offencive players as Maxi – Mascara. Catania will play 4-1-4-1 against Genoa away.

Surprise of the day

I can`t see an easy game for Genoa here. Odds showing Genoa as big favourite but as I mentioned without Sculli,Veloso and Palacio Genoa will have difficulties to score against “defencive“ Catania.

Also Genoa`s game style exactly suited for Sicilians. Last two meetings between these two teams ended with Catania`s victories. Last season Catania managed to win in Genoa 1-2.

Genoa played extra time on Coppa game.Catania rested more.

I would offer +0.5 Catania but I am chosing higher odds and Catania DNB option.

Catania will grab at least 1 point from Genoa away.

Match preview: Cagliari – Inter Milan

Cagliari is an classic Italian team which plays well at home, and are unbeaten in this season there. However, a serious encouter broke up between captain Daniele Conti and vice-captain Alessandro Agostini. The two influental players reportedly came to blows, and the coach suspended them so we don`t expect them in the starting lineup. Also, there are rumours that the players are unhappy with manager Bisoli. They play defensively at most times, so that will be a factor which Inter will take to win.

Inter looking good

Inter have played well against Werder and that is something on what they should build up on. Im not a big fan of Bentiez but I hope he will get the win today. They are starting to play good, and Eto`o is in great form. They will miss Cambiasso and Milito, with Pandev and Cordoba out injured.

Value is too good

Despite missing the Argentine duo, I think Inter is still the best team in Italy and that they will go out to win this match. They possess great talent and the likes of Sneijder and Eto`o can win this match easily. The odds are great value and they should be taken.

Match preview: Fiorentina – Parma

Probable starting eleven:
Frey, De Silvestri, Gamberini, Kroldrup, Felipe; Montolivo, Donadel, Zanetti; Cerci, Gilardino, Vargas.

Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is under great pressure in front of this match. The reason is simple, Fiorentina is without a single victory so far. And the expectations were very big, at least one of the first four places and UEFA champions League spot. The problems are even bier knowing that four important players are unavailable. Jovetic, D`Agostino and Pasqual are injured and won`t play, while Adrian Mutu is suspended.

Hard game for Parma

Probable starting eleven: Mirante, Zaccardo, Dellafiore, A. Lucarelli, Pisano; Dzemaili, Morrone, Gobbi; Bojinov, Crespo, Marques. Parma started the season solid. They have one victory, two draws and one defeat in first four rounds. However they played two draws in the last two rounds and I think they will continue that way. I am sure the players confidence is good at the moment. Parma coach Pasquale Marino also have some missing players as Galloppa, Paloschi and Giovinco are all injured.

Parma is able to stay unbeaten

Fiorentina is in must win position, coach Sinisa Mihajlovic too. But it is always very difficult to play in that situation. The pressure to the coach and to the players is enormous. And we must know that Parma is good team. I will also mention that Parma won the last game played on Artemio Franchi. Fiorentina and Parma played one very efficient match last year on November, 21-st and Parma won 3:2. Gilardino scored both goals for Viola, but Nicola Amoruso, Valeri Bojinov and Davide Lanzafame brought a victory to Parma. I don`t believe Parma is able to win once again, but I believe they can stay unbeaten.
