Israel is known as an excellent home team but one cannot recall when was the last time they recorded some major success and qualified to one of the big world/European tournaments. They also did record losses at home despite their dominance; such is the loss to Latvia in the last year’s WC qualifiers, which surely proves they’re not unbeatable. At this match their coach Fernandez will have to do without their key player Benayoun, who is their link for the entire squad and without him they’re just “headless”. They do have a few other solid individuals other than him such is Barda from Genk for example, along with a few players from Hapoel Tel-Aviv’s squad that’s participating in CL this season, but overall they’re quite limited. They barely defeated Malta at home mostly thanks to Benayoun, beating them by 3:1 after 1:1 at halftime, while on the road they played a goalless draw against Georgia.

Strong

Croatia is among the biggest favorites to go through in this EC from this group so it’s certain that Slaven Bilic’s boys will give their all to make up for the poor 0:0 against Greece at home from the last round, when everybody expected them to take all 3 points. They kind of neutralized their good result from Latvia, who they beat 3:0, but it’s certain they are still the main candidates for going to EC. They have quite a lot of admired and very talented and technically skilled players all throughout Europe, among which we’ve got Olic, Kranjcar, Modric, Rakitic, Pranjic, Mandzukic, etc… and despite the fact they’ll be without terrific Srna and Petric, I still think they’re on very good squad that is bound to explode sooner or later on the pitch.

The Croats to the end

The hosts will fight a lot more here but Croatia is a much stronger rival and as the time will pass by in the match, they will slowly be taking over the situation on the pitch and due to a lot greater quality and technical skills, it’s only a matter of time when they’ll score. I think the odds here should’ve been below 2.00 on the visitors as Israel is weakened and isn’t a serious side anyway, while the Croats are world-class and it’s about time they display they full potential. They’ve met twice so far until now and both times it was Croatia that won, and given these odds I just have to go for another win of theirs.

Laurent Blanc has called the following players:
Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris, Steve Mandanda, Cédric Carrasso.

Defenders: Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, Adil Rami, Philippe Mexes, Mamadou Sakho, Benoît Tremoulinas.

Midfielders: Mathieu Valbuena, Lassana Diarra, Alou Diarra, Yann M`Vila, Abou Diaby, Samir Nasri, Florent Malouda, Blaise Matuidi, Yoann Gourcuff.

Forwards: Kévin Gameiro, Karim Benzema, Loïc Rémy, Guillaume Hoarau, Dimitri Payet.

Bad Times in Romanian Connection

Romania is placed in the 5th spot in the group D of EURO 2012 qualifiers (2 points, 0W – 2D – 0L). They have drawn two matches. The first one was against Albania at home (1-1) and after this bad result they were able to bring one point to Romania drawing against Belarus.
Razvan Lucescu has called the following players:
Goalkeepers: Lobont, Pantilimon and Tatarusanu.

Defenders: Sapunaru, Tamas, Chivu, S. Radu, Rat, Nesu, M. Constantin and Maftei.

Midfielders: Deac, Cocis, Radoi, Florescu, Apostol, C. Lazar, Roman and Zicu.

Forwards: Marica, D. Nicul, B. Stancu and Bilasco.

Laurent Blanc`s Moment

I consider Laurent Blanc as a great coach and manager. He made a great revolution in his squad after the World Cup 2010 and they lost the friendly match in August versus Norway (1-2) and they were smashed at home in the opening game of the group D against Belarus (0-1). Laurent has talked to his players and he explained them what means to play in French National Team. He wants to recover Karin Benzema and Real Madrid CF’s player showed a great performance at Sarajevo in the second round of the group D.
French National Team needs and owes a great football match to their supporters. French people have suffered so much since atrocious and shameful World Cup 2010. Les Bleus have to win and do a good match at home. I think Laurent Blanc is going to straighten the walking of French National Team with young players like Dimitri Payet who has been called up for this international encounter. France needs a little bit of happiness and I think Romania is a propitious team to manage a worthy victory.
On the other hand Romania is sailing to nowhere. They are playing to nothing since the end of EURO 2008. They always try to play good in defense and after that they try to grow up their offensive skills. They have excellent players, but these players are great as individualities. They haven’t a collective sense when they play for Romanian National Team. Playing at Stade de France against French National Team is always attractive and they will try to make a good performance playing with France’s anxiety, but I rate this new French Team one class better than Romanian’s.
I rate France’s victory as highly probable, so I think is a great value the odds on AH (-1) to stake a good invest waiting for the reconciliation between French players and French supporters.

After a huge success at the World Cup where they took the 3rd place, Germany started the new qualifiers in great fashion even though their play didn’t maybe seem too convincing in the opening match of the new campaign where the Belgians had a lot of chances for a triumph, and eventually Germany handled the situation better and won by 1:0. But in their home opener, they crushed Azerbaijan by 6:1 at home, even though they struggled quite a bit in the first half. For this clash they’ll have to play without their creator Schweinsteiger, but Ozil, who’s actually from a Turkish descent, will be very motivated. Instead of Schweinsteiger everybody expects Kroos to be in the starting lineup and there were lots of debates around the German public how important this absence will be for their team. I believe it will matter a lot but also I do believe that Low’s side is full of quality and will manage to find their well-known passing game even without him in the squad.

Injuries and ambitions

Turkey has started these qualifiers quite well and led by Guus Hiddink, they’re gonna want to reach the EURO at any cost. They also have 2 wins so they’re sharing the first place with the Germans, with a bit worse goal difference. They convincingly beat Kazakhstan on the road, while at home they defeated Belgium by 3:2 after a great turnaround. In this clash they’ll be quite weakened due to the absence of his key player in the midfield Arda Turan, who’s injured, while beside him another midfielder is out – Sahin. They do of course have a few excellent players on their squad like Nihat, Semih, Tuncay, Emre, Aurelio… but it’s gonna be really hard to confront this kind of a squad on the road so Hiddink will have a very tough task ahead of him.

German discipline above all

Discipline against wild play, I go for the discipline. Germany is one terrific squad even though their players might not be in the best form at the moment. Same situation with Turkey, they do have quality but half of their squad is out of shape pretty-much and even though there will be a lot of Turkish fans at this match in Berlin, I still don’t see how they will even escape with a point here. Their defense and goalie have always been their weakest link and I think it will be the same this time and as always, they’ll play risky and open footie, which will cost them a lot against strong Germany. Home win without a doubt, possibly by 2 or more. Good luck!

Home players are big optimists before this match. But the reality is little different. Wales coach Brian Flynn has big problems with injuries. The following four players are out of the squad: Robert Earnshaw (Nottingham Forest), Neal Eardley (Blackpool), Danny Gabbidon (West Ham United) and Brian Stock (Doncaster Rovers). I think it will be very difficult for Wales in situation like this. Of course there are good players in the team, specially Gareth Bale from Tottenham who is in terrific form at the moment.

New coach effect

I believe in the “new coach effect” and I think it is a positive moment for Bulgaria. As You probably know, Lothar Matthaus, the famous ex German player and coach is now in charge for Bulgaria. The biggest problems for Bulgaria is in attack, Martin Petrov is out and Valeri Bojinov too. The strikers in Bulgarian squad isn`t something special. Here are the attack: Dimitar Rangelov (Maccabi Tel-Aviv), Ivelin Popov (Gaziantepspor), Dimitar Makriev (Ashdod), Valeri Domovchiyski (Hertha Berlin) and Tsvetan Genkov (Lokomotiv Sofia). So, my opinion is Bulgaria will be very satisfied with one point.

Tight battle

Both teams are without any point at the moment. Bulgaria lost from England and Montenegro, while Wales lost from Montenegro. It is clear both coaches, Flynn from Wales and Matthaus from Bulgaria will want a positive result here. I think that draw is the most probable outcome. Both teams have some important missing players and both teams are nothing special. Maybe Wales have a small advantage as they are playing at home, but Bulgaria is not a naive team. In situation like this I expect a draw here.

Montenegro is one solid team that has a lot of experienced players in their squad, which will surely just keep getting better and better in the future. They’re also talented, having good players in every position. There are goalie Bozovic, then defenders Basa and Pekovic, midfielders Vukcevic and Boskovic, and in the offense of course Roma’s striker Vucinic. Stevan Jovetic is injured and that is a big blowout for this kind of a team. The Montenegrins started the qualifiers in a dream way, beating Bulgaria by 1:0 away and Wales at home by identical scoreline, and are now sharing the first place in the group with England having the maximum amount of points they could obtain so far, which they might not have expected before the start of the qualifiers and it’s questionable how much longer will they keep it up at such high level.

Dangerous

After some decent performances at the World Cup in South Africa where they even beat the World Champs Spain, the Swiss entered the qualifiers full of optimism and with a strong squad but did bump into a lot better English outfit in the first qualifying round, and lost by 1:3 at home. They have a fantastic lineup and it’s certain that beside England they’re the biggest favorites to go through. They have an excellent goalie Benaglio, and also there are great Liechtsteiner, Frei, Degen and Derdiyok and they’re certainly forcing attacking footie and in this match they won’t be hesitating to attack so I’m quite sure they’ll prove to be a very dangerous opponent, especially from the counters.

The Swiss are better

I think that both sides are full of good players but I have no doubts Switzerland has a better team overall and that they could easily win this match. The Montenegrins are way too satisfied with what they’ve achieved in the first two rounds but realistically this will be their first serious test and I think they’ll have a very hard time to defend from the dangerous and experienced Swiss. My choice is the away win on level ball. Good luck!

Albania doesn’t fall under a category of the worst European teams anymore, which is just a proof that things are working out better for this country, and so they’re playing better football and producing more quality players. New coach Kuze gave them a new life, and many people have been praising his work, claiming how he finally got the Albanians to work harder. When we add to that their team has a few great players such as Cana from Galatasaray for example, it doesn’t come as a surprise that they’re first in their qualifying group after the first 2 rounds. They drew against favored Romania in the previous round (1:1) and beat Luxembourg at home. It is also worth mentioning they haven’t lost the last 7 home matches.

They want to play at the EURO

Bosnia and Herzegovina disappointed their fans when they lost to demoralized France in Sarajevo in the last qualifying round, but they’re still in the race to qualify to the EURO which they desperately want so I believe they will enter this clash fully motivated and search their chance for a win. They have some famous and classy players in their squad such are Misimovic, Dzeko, Ibisevic… anyway, they are a lot better in the offense than in defense and in this match I expect them to fully show their attacking potential and press the motivated hosts.

Goal feast

Albania hasn’t produced a goal feast for quite a long time in front of their fans, going under 2.5 in the previous 5 matches but this time around I believe we’ll be seeing a lot different match. Both teams will be motivated and will be attacking a lot. Albania will be without their great coach that’s ill, which should give them extra motivation to play for him while the Bosnians will be going for 3 points. That’s why I believe we’ll most certainly see some goals and the attacking play on both ends, and the odds on the over are excellent. Good luck!

Bosnia played a good qualification for WC 2010, but was stopped by powerful Portugal in the relegation. They have beaten Luxembourg away 3:0 in their first qualification game for EM 2012. The squad has improved in the last years and they have a lot of quality offensive players, that earn their money in good European clubs like Pjanic from Olympique Lyon, Dzeko and Misimovic from Wolfsburg Or Ibisevic from Hoffenheim. They are 2-1-2 in their last 5 matches.

STRUGGLING

France was the biggest disappointment on WC 2010. Although I bet a low stake on them not to survive their group I was shocked because of their bad performance in South Africa. After that shame the FFF banned a lot of quality players because of rebellion against Coach Domenech. Anelka will probably never again play for the French, because he is still baned for 17 games. Evra will be out for 4 and Ribery will miss 2 games. In the first game of the qualification for EC 2012 they lost under new coach Blanc at home against medicore Belarus. Though they were a little better than their opponent, they were far from playing good or create pressure against Belarus. The quality and creativity of Ribery was simply missing. France have shocking stats of 0-1-4 in their last 5 games.

VALUE HUNTING

France is in a bad shape. They lost on home ground to mediocre Belarus. So they can easily do the same away against Bosnia. The odds for home win are simply to high. Yes, France had a great team in the past. But now they lack class and self confidence. So a home win is in my eyes more probable than the odds suggest. I think the odds will fall in the next days. So i take this bet early GL.

Serbia has started the qualifiers in an excellent fashion considering the way they played in the first match against Faroe islands. If they had faced a tougher opponent, things would be a lot different. No cohesion was clear in every line of their team, and mostly in the attack. Zigic and Lazovic, even Jovanovic all missed easy sitters and the Faroes could be very pleased they only conceded 3 goals at the end. Insecurity of the goalie Djuricic is also clear, even though he didn’t have that many shots to save and prove his talent. I think Antic and his assistants need to do a lot better job during these qualifiers in order to make Serbia play at a higher level than they did at the past World Cup. I think they can take the triumph at their biggest stadium and take all 3 points from already demoralized Slovenia.

Started out with a defeat

Slovenia slipped up against Northern Ireland, totally unexpectedly but that is also an additional proof that everything will be open in this qualifying group and of course that nothing is over after the first round, as there will be plenty more turnarounds in the standings so it is expected the Slovenians play a lot better in the upcoming matches. They perfectly know where they will be playing at, always hell of an atmosphere in Belgrade, so I think they will be a bit more defensive-oriented, as they know Serbia will play attacking and will wait for the hosts’ mistakes, which are always bound to happen. They are a bit demoralized but are arriving to Serbia not to complain but to regain their confidence. They are an excellent side that has a belief in themselves, and will give their best to record a triumph.

Smaller favs than they should be in reality

We should finally expect to see some quality football from both of these WC sides after average performances in the first round. Now the Serbs will meet Slovenia, who are one of their main rivals in this group and I expect a tough match where I expect the home side to come out as winners eventually. My advice is to try with a home win with AH, as even a 2-goal win is likely to happen in case of an early goal. Good luck!

The Croatian side has started out in a powerful way these new qualifiers by winning 3:0 away in Latvia, so they are awaiting the Greeks in a good atmosphere this Tuesday. The home players have a great desire to make up for the bitter taste of their fans for not going to the WC in South Africa by playing a good match in front of their full Maksimir stadium. Their biggest strength is team play, where coach Bilic managed to fit in a lot of classy individuals out of whom Modric, Kranjcar, Srna, Olic, Eduardo and Petric stand out the most. Almost surely the Croatians will start this match strong, announcing pressure in all lines of the team, so we can expect to see their well-known play full of good passing in front of the Greek penalty box. The big strength of this team lies in Dario Srna on the right and Mandzukic on the left, who can break through the flanks in a powerful way, creating a chance to send in precise crosses into the box. The Croatians will also be looking for a good free kick position, as Srna, Kranjcar, and even Petric sometimes, can resolve the match in such a way.

Dangerous side

Greek coach Fernando Santos didn’t start out too well. His national team slipped up and now they are gonna play maybe even the toughest away game in Zagreb. There they will have to defend much better and more organized. With their play so far they’ve shown a few weaknesses such as covering the space and organizing their game. However, Greece has got a few excellent individuals and has changed their way of playing to a certain extent. Now their coach Santos insists that his squad tries to create chances through direct contacts and passing. Their backs are usually going deep into the opponent’s half, being much more offensive than before. Sotiris Ninis often tries to play between the two attackers, and together with his colleague Dimitrios Salpingidis he’ll create the majority of the dangerous chances in front of the hosts’ goal.

Home win

There is no doubt that Croatia is the more quality squad, almost at any position. Olic has got the speed and mobility, Petric football quality, Jelavic the strength, Mandzukic explosiveness, and Eduardo falls among the world’s best attackers, having great quality and execution, exactly that diversity is where the Croatians’ main advantage is. The stadium has been sold out and in the Maksimir hell Croatia plays very powerful, pushing the opponent away from their goal, and their biggest strength, the midfield, is using great passing and quick position shift to create a whole lot of clear-cut goal chances for their attackers. We can expect a tough match, which will bring some uncertainty at the beginning, but I think the Greeks won’t manage to keep a clean sheet. I will go for a home win. Good luck!

Macedonia suffered an unlucky defeat in Bratislava. Slovakia scored in 91 minute through Holosko, but some things happened just before that. Vance Shikov received a red card, as well as coach Mirsad Jonuz. And Macedonia have some problems even before the game. First goalkeeper Tome Pacovski is injured. Striker Ace Stojkov is injured too, even he travel to Slovakia. All of them will miss tonight game too. Coach Jonuz announced 4-3-3 formation for this game, with Goran pandev, Ilco naumovski and Ristic in attack. Because of that, and because Pacovski is out, I think there will be goals here.

Bad start

Armenia started the qualifications with a defeat against Republic of Ireland at home. Now they are facing Macedonia in Skopje. Another defeat will surely mean Armenia is out of battle for the first two places. Of course it is difficult to believe Armenia is able to reach one of the first two places, but I am sure the coach and the players have some hopes. Because of that I believe Armenian coach Vardan Minasyan will try to get something in Skopje. And he has some experienced strikers in the team, like Henrikh Mkhitaryan who played for Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine or Yura Movsisyan who played for Randers in Denmark. So, I believe Armenia will try to score, in fact they will try to win.

Tradition will continue

I expect the tradition to continue. And the tradition says that every game between Macedonia and Armenia was efficient, no matter where they played. The first game played on 10.05.1995 ended 2:2, the second played on 06.09.1995 ended with Armenia victory with 1:2, the third played on 18.08.2004 ended with Macedonia victory with 3:0,while the last one played on 04.06.2005 again with Macedonia victory with 1:2. That is why I am expecting another efficient match in Skopje tonight. Macedonian coach Mirsad Jonuz announced an offensive formation and that guarantees goals. Armenia will be very danger through fast counterattacks and I won`t be surprised if they scored too. The weather is perfect today in Skopje and I think we will see an interesting match with at least three goals.
