Vardar – FC Copenhaga: 25th JULY 2017
Vardar is ranked second in the bookmakers, despite the fact that he has the support of his supporters, but will face a more valuable but more experienced opponent. The Macedonians have never participated in the European competition groups, although they have played many times in the preliminaries this year by qualifying in the third round, managing one of the best performances in their entire history. In the second round, Goce Sedloski’s team broke with Malmo, which he eliminated surprisingly, imposing 3-1 on his own field, after he had drawn away.
FC Copenhagen on the other side is quoted with the first chance at the bookmakers, which does not surprise anyone, yet it is a stronger team, evolving in a more valuable championship. The “lions” have European experience, in the past 11 years reaching groups of no less than ten times, taking the “spring” European four times. One year ago, Ståle Solbakken’s band impressed the Champions League, finishing third in a group with Leicester, Porto and Club Brugge, thus reaching the Europa League, where it eventually stopped in the eighth. This year, FC Copenhagen began its European adventure with Zilina, which defeated it 1-3 times away, losing 1-2 on home ground.
So FC Copenhagen is no longer that heavyweight team, with the last four games receiving four goals, coming from modest opponents. Vardar on the other side is a small team, it is right, but he scores quite often, and as today has his side and the advantage of his own field, I expect to score again.
