Trnava vs Anderlecht PREVIEW & PREDICTION 20/09/2018

Spartak Trnava makes his debut in the Europa League on Thursday-evening. It receives RSC Anderlecht, which in the past achieved a few nice successes in European football. What will be the first result on the European stage of the Slovakian team?

Spartak Trnava:

Spartak Trnava became champion in the Slovenian highest class last year. This gave them the right to a ticket for the final qualifying round of the Europa League. There they switched off the Slovenian Olimpija. Now they stand for their European debut, undoubtedly a historic highlight for the club. Also something to attract to because now it is not running on wheels in the national competition. It is currently in the gray middle with eight points from as many matches. This weekend they lost in their own home from MSK Zilina, a team that also was in the middle. It underlines the lousy form of the Slovaks.

The selection does not contain any known names. A mix of young Slovakians, older Slovakians and foreign players. Furthermore, there is little to say about this. Currently there is no player who deserves special attention or can be discussed extra. Wait and see if this is still the case on Thursday evening, after the game.

RSC Anderlecht:

Anderlecht started the season energetically. The first four games were all won and no less than 13 goals were scored. Especially the striker duo Santini and Dimata impressed. In the last three games the machine stopped. One in nine is the meager balance. Last weekend they lost with the smallest difference on Genk, it became 1-0. It was a game in which both teams got the necessary chances but it was Sebastien Dewaest who, after a nice cross by Pozuelo, made the only goal of the game. Where in the beginning of the season the goals were closed with the eyes, it is all a lot more difficult. Maybe the game of Anderlecht is a bit too stereotypical and the opponents are now better adjusted to it. It is important to let the momentum return to their advantage as quickly as possible, because they manage to create opportunities.

The people from Brussels underwent a true metamorphosis this summer. Many players were sold, but at least as many players purchased. The most notable departures were Teodorczyk (Udinese), Kara (Nantes), Dendoncker (Wolverhampton), Sels (Strasbourg) and Deschacht (free player). On the inbound side, the main transfers were: Sanneh (Midtjylland), Santini (Caen), Dimata (Wolfsburg), Vranjes (Aek Athens) and Didillon (Metz).

The current relapse was also partly linked to the injury that Adrien Trebel is struggling with. He also started the season very strongly, but since he has been severely affected by the abdominal muscles, his level has dropped. Anderlecht do everything to get him injury-free and in this way quickly find his old form. For the rest, RSCA is unlikely to count on defenders Lawrence and Bornauw on Thursday-evening due to an injury.
