Southampton – Manchester City: 15th April 2017
Southampton is a team that has few weaknesses when aims to defend can do a great job. Liverpool and Arsenal have found it on their skin, and now it’s the turn of Man. City try undoing “saints”. But City has a slight advantage: it’s the end of the season outside the European Cups and Guardiola’s group is sufficiently fresh to storm the opposition’s box. Southampton does not take too much ball possession when he has to deal with such opponents and therefore “citizens” start with the first chance to win.
Last duels brought goals
The tour was 1-1, surprisingly, with Southampton winning an unlikely point on Etihad. Otherwise, matches between the two teams are usually spectacular and we have reason to believe that it will be now. City has won 4 of the last 6 direct duels scores being 4-1, 3-0, 2-0 and 3-1. Last visit to St Mary’s, but City gave up with 2-4, but paper calculations have changed this weekend because the stakes are just the “citizens”. Southampton will finish mid-table season.
Southampton is in good shape
We expect a good replica of the home for Claude Puel’s team comes after good results, second consecutive victory, 3-1 and 1-0 in WBA Palace. City won the previous round with Hull, but still has much work to ensure its place in the Top 4. We will keep an eye on offensive players from the two teams Tadic, Redmond, Rodriguez (hosts) and Aguero, Sterling and Silva guests.
Notice that they have scored at least three goals in five of the last six home games Southampton, just as it has happened in the last 3 games played City. Maybe that’s why you’d better stay away from betting on goals that will follow a match at a time in which defenses will be up. City is without failure championship in nine of the last 10 stages and will not miss this time.
