Sheffield Utd vs Wolves PREVIEW & PREDICTION 08/07/2020

On Wednesday, at 18:00, Sheffield United and Wolverhampton play in the 34th round of the Premier League, in a match scheduled on Brammall Lane. The hosts cannot count on Clarke, Fleck, Freeman and Lundstram, against the “wolves” trained by Nuno Espirito Santo.

The match refereed by Martin Atkinson opposes two teams with similar claims in the standings. If they manage to win, the “steelmen” trained by Chris Wilder would return to fight for a place in the European cups, but Sheffield United’s mission is very difficult, in the first season after promotion. Sheffield is 8th in the Premier League (34-33 goal difference) with 48 points, while Wolverhampton is 6th (45-36 goal difference) with 52 points.

Last season, Sheffield United scored a point at Burnley (1-1), after beating Tottenham in the previous home game, score 3-1. Instead, Wolves looked modest in front of Arsenal (0-2), which ended a series of three consecutive goalless hits for Molineux. Even though he shot 10 times at the goal, Wolverhampton scored only one shot and got only 3 corners in front of the “gunners”.

In direct duels, Wolves has an advantage: he has won 3 of the last 5 games with Sheffield United, losing only once. In the round it was 1-1 on Molineux, after a great fight match, in which the white-reds defended themselves exactly and led through the goal quickly scored by Mousset. With a similar style, Sheffield United has chances to repeat the result on their own field, after a tactical game.

-In 4 of the last 5 direct duels the winning team did not receive a goal;
-In the last 4 matches played by Wolverhampton we have witnessed two scores of 2-0 and two of 1-0;
-In 4 of the 6 matches played by Sheffield after the pandemic, at least three goals were scored;
-Sheffield United have the 9th balance in the matches played at home (goal difference 20-14);
-Wolverhampton is on the 3rd place in the away ranking in the Premier League: 7 victories;
