The host team ranked No. 7 in La Liga, with a total of 58 points cumulated following 18 wins and 4 draws. This is only one point behind Athletic Bilbao, which is in the last position of European Cups. Thus, in order for the European cups to remain viable for Real Sociedad, the team trained by Sacristan is obliged to have a number of best results in the last rounds.
