Poland vs Portugal PREVIEW & PREDICTION 11/10/2018

On Thursday-evening, the second round of play in the Nations League is on the program. The Portuguese are still visiting Poland without Ronaldo.

Poland:

Poland, like Poland, is not in great shape. Only three of the last eleven games were won and the World Cup was very disappointing for Adam Nawalka’s team. Poland finished last in a group with Senegal, Colombia and Japan and only managed to win from the latter. Nawalka got up after the tournament.

His successor Jerzy Breczek immediately got the broom through the selection. Defender Lukasz Piszczek, Michal Pazdan and Thiago Cionek, Slawomir Peszko, Lukasz Teodorczyk and David Kownachki have not been summoned to meet Portugal. What is new in the selection is Series A-revelation Krzysztof Piatek. The striker scored 21 times for Krakow Cracovia last year and earned a transfer to Genoa. There he managed to reach no less than nine times in the first seven games. This gives Breczek a luxury problem immediately because Arek Milik also performs well at Napoli this season with three hits in five games while superstar Robert Lewandowski is undisputed.

Poland started the Nations League with a 1-1 tie to visit Italy. Piotr Zielinski, another Pole who earns his living in the Serie A, put his team in the lead just before half-time, after which Chelsea midfielder Jorginho brought the score back to a penalty.

Portugal:

The national team of Portugal is experiencing troubled times and this is due in large part to the controversy surrounding superstar Ronaldo. The Juventus striker is accused of rape and has a lawsuit on his pants. Until clarity is provided, Ronaldo is not called up for the national team.

However, his country can use him well, because the southern Europeans are not doing well in the last few months. Only three of the last ten games were won and at the last world championship in Russia the eighth final was already the final after Uruguay was 2-1 too strong. Portugal then also started strong after the Nations League, as Italy was beaten 1-0.

Coach Fernando Santos has left a lot of experience at home. Ronaldo is not alone, but also names like João Moutinho, Adrien Silva, André Gomes, João Mario, Gelson Martins, Ricardo Quaresma and Nani are missing.
